They look weird on my CRT

Prove it

jesus fucking christ

They never look right

Because they look like ass, and nothing like an actual CRT.

Proper CRT filters works wonders

Maybe your CRT, not all CRTs are equal in terms of looks. Bigger and smaller ones drastically change the picture (like more apparent scanlines).

Because they're garbage, universally.
If you want a CRT look and feel, play on one. Otherwise don't.

Because just use a real fucking CRT. Using filters that barely look like the real thing and acting like "this is how it's MEANT to be played!" is fucking cringe.

You've already made this thread, autismo

Is that a custom version of CRT Royale? I love that shader, Kurozomi and the default look are pretty rad.

Mediocre CRT shaders are vastly superior to pure nearest neighbor. If you don't have a (decent) real CRT there's no other option.

Old TVs are not the same as old monitors. Why do you fags conflate the two?

looks nice on 2d games but using them on upscaled 3d like op is retarded

Hey dumbfuck, be considerate. Not everyone has the space or want to get their hands dirty in a dumpster to get a CRT. Also, it depends on the filter. Some are just ass scanlines that do jackshit, and others are pretty damn close to the real thing.

at this point i worry less about making the game look identical to the og, and more about it just looking nice to my eyes. which means high internal rendering res, antialiasing, pgpx, overclock software cpu etc, even hd texture packs, but no filters. for 16 bit games i fucking hate texture filtering, i like the raw pixels

how do i crt filter on mednafen

>filters

Kill yourself.

they only work for 3D games if you set the internal res to native or 2x at most

Stuff like Ocarina in Time's text looks better with a CRT filter like Royale.

filterfags are either too weak to get a CRT into their home or have no friends to help them do it.

looks bad on my 4K monitor

That's not what that shit looked like on my CRT, fucking poorfags with like 1950s first wave color TVs up in this shit I swear

Don't think Mednafen has one, the Retroarch Core of Mednafen has them tho.

I don't but i assume that's zoomed in because it never looked that bad on my CRT. To much filter man.

>hd texture packs

I don't understand texture filtering at all though because that never looks good, ever.

Have you tried integer scaling? Or checking if your shader is the right pixel multiplier?

Waifu2x and or Gigapixel AI Upscalers are pretty well suited for making actual "HD" texture packs.

I personally always have to at the native resolution, it lines up the scanlines PERFECTLY

Jesus

i played mario sunshine with a hd texture pack and it's great. if care and effort is taken it doesn't look out of place

Because its something I never wanted to see on my fucking tv.
I played CRTs for around 18 years of my life and no, its not a good part of the nostalgia I feel about games back then.
Playing on a tv with clean visuals is a thousand times better.

Why not just play the game on beetle HV on retro-arch.
It makes PS1 games look almost like PC releases once you enable all enhancements.

If care and effort is taken yeah, or just dump the textures in an AI upscaler and hope it looks good.

There are many games in the past that expected the consumer to be using a CRT, CRT's way of processing is so much different than modern LCDs, LEDs, OLEDs.

Best way to play LSD Dream Emulator.

i use hyllian crt, the best one for me

How does this work?

Its not the same and thanks to the chinks we cant even develop better tvs or screen tech this LCD/led age will ever end?

Can I get a tl;dw?

It's a version of it using the colors of an NEC CRT, yes. CRT-Royale-xm29plus. It's in the presets folder.

I need to update my shaders.

It looks worse and darkened with the filter. What were you trying to prove with that gif?
