Is this game actually good or just a meme?
Is this game actually good or just a meme?
Its probably good but idfk I don't play many jap arpeegees
Apparently it is considering everyone but me has hated it since it ever since released on PC
If you specifically like turn based like I do then you'll probably like it
It's fucking awful. I put 35 hours into this game recently, got to the end of two stories, and quit. It's a meme tier combination of RPG Maker games glued together, with little depth, and around 4 dungeon designs. It's not good. Don't waste your time. The writing is droll at best, the skill system is bland, and the game is full of cheap shots. One boss at 50% hp, just randomly used an ability that reduced my MAX hp each turn. It's full of shit like this - it'll just blindside you with some unfair nonsense.
>Denuvo
It's not really good, it's a slog. Characters have barely any interactions with each other, every chapter structure is the same "go to town>speak with npc>go to some weird ass dungeon>fight a boss just for the sake of having a boss fight" you have to do that 32 times if you want to get access to the real final boss, which will also take you an insane amount of grinding for all the 8 characters.
The combat is not bad but it's pretty much a worse bravely defaul, also the bosses have a really stupid tendency when they go in low HP to come up with a bullshit move just to fuck you up.
Everything with this game is just boring
It's shit. Not even switch fag defends it anymore
So did say Nintenfags until it was released on pc, now it just seems to be an average jrpg
If you like turn-based rpgs you'll probably like it. Just pirate it, denuvo actually makes the game run worse on pc too
It's a game that tries to play soley on people's nostalgia for old scjool Jrpgs but pales in comparison with the classic games it tries to emulate
100% meme
Gameplay is average at best. Story is extremely bland, only one I liked was the dancer girl's because I'm a coomer.
It's pretty good if you know what you're getting yourself into, Yas Forums has an absolute hateboner for anything (formerly) Switch exclusive so you're not going to get an unbiased opinion here.
>every chapter structure is the same "go to town>speak with npc>go to some weird ass dungeon>fight a boss just for the sake of having a boss fight"
You skipped some steps, mostly the 'walk 8 steps between cutscenes in the town while we go through all 6 of the cutscenes'. It really is a frustrating game.
You say all this and I still want to try it.
I played the demo though and couldn't get past the opening dialog of the hunter chapter. The dialog was just so thick with their fake fantasy language and I just couldn't get past it.
Very barebones and lacking direction. Art is pretty and battles are ok but that's about it.
I loved it.
It gets universal hatred on Yas Forums like a lot of things, but if you like old JRPG's a-la Chrono Trigger and such, you'll enjoy it. It has a stellar OST, and overall is very good.
Its one of the few jrpgs where the game play is better than the story
The music was good, that's about it.
>dialog was just so thick with their fake fantasy language and I just couldn't get past it.
There's barely any voiced lines. You'd think each character's final chapter scenes would be fully-voiced but nope, not in this game.
Why are you so set on shitposting this game?
Just emulate Live A Live instead. It's a condensed take on the same thing OT tries to do, minus all the filler and shared bullshit. You get clear cut scenario for each character and some stuff at the end.
Yeah i forgot about those, this game was only hyped up because it was a switch exclusive and because "muh old school rpg graphics"anyways.
Everyone saying it's shit I guarantee it's because it doesn't appeal to their pedoshit fetish
One of the best games I've ever played desu
The combat is fun but everything else is baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad.
The stories are clearly aimed at children, which is fine, but they literally give you nothing to grasp on as an adult. The SNES Final Fantasies were also made with kids in mind but they had themes and characters that resonated with the audience. If you compare lock and.. thief boy, they're both defined by being wisecracking thieves. Locke's character and motivation for his actions is doled out over the course of the game and is not even apparent until after you meet Celes. Therion's (tearion? I cannot remember) background and his friend's betrayal is IMMEDIATELY apparent in the beginning of the game. With no intrigue his chapters become a slog.
Every single character is the same way and you can figure out the whole story by hour 2. The dungeons are linear and simple as all fuck as well. I've thought about finishing it because I bought it and the battles are pretty fun but the painfully dull story and basic level design really puts me off. If you really want to try it do not buy it for more than $10. Or pirate it instead
Polarizing. I loved it and thanks god it sold really well and it’s confirmed the same team is working in a spiritual sequel.
Wouldn't Romancing SaGa actually be more accurate? First one, that is.
or like any suikoden game
>baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad
The music’s great tho’
It was removed. Still not worth 60$ thought
The bullshit wannabe Olde Englishe is tiring but it doesn't last long, except whenever that girl talks
I liked the game, but the criticisms are accurate.
Characters barely acknowledge the existence of the other party members. It's as though all 8 of them are alone together.
Story can be fun sometimes but is usually uninspired.
But, classes & dual classing is really fun. Combat can be fun too, choosing skills & exploiting the dancer's seduction thing to get OP npcs to help you, lezzing it up with an old lady mage NPC to destroy bosses for me... good times.
It's a fun game. But don't buy it if you're poor or limited on time I guess.
It was great when it was a switch exclusive.
>have Alfyn and Ophilia in my party
>"Press start to listen to Travel Banter!"
>Ophilia: Wow Alfyn, you're so fuckin' cool at being a healer
>Alfyn: "Stop, you're making my anus itch by praising me"
I have so many questions about this game. I don't remember the exact phrasing, but Alfyn literally says his arse itches when people praise him. I'm just.. why is this a video game.
It is good but deliberately archaic in design, and not just visually. It does have a fair bit of content, but some people complain how "formulaic" it is, especially with the story progressions, there are a couple of sidequests with multiple solutions, but it can arguably be hard to realize that for some of them.
It is basically a new game for people that have no issue playing old/unrefined NES/SNES games.
