Original = good
Remake = bad
Jason Morris
I'm not. Playing it right now.
Samuel Morgan
How was it pretending? Don't blame the customers for the devs delivering a shit remake.

I played the original so thoroughly I know all the nuances that casuals miss out on.
Like how Cloud does not have Zack's memories and how Aerith successfully cast Holy before she died so Sephiroth killing her really didn't matter.
Sebastian Mitchell
Lmao @ both people who can’t finish the original and people who can’t conceptualize people do and love it

Final Fantasy VII was the first JRPG I played when I was like 6 when it came out and I've played it many times over the years. I assure you I played it and I like the story a lot. That said I don't mind the Remake changing things, what I do mind is the Whispers which are an awful meta commentary in-universe justification for things to be different. It feels forced and I hate it, I would have be perfectly fine with just events happening differently but occurring naturally.

I think a lot of people really need to play it again and get a refresh. FF7 I think has over the years built up a lot of misconceptions about the plot and characters that've come from the various red-herrings in the game and just playground chatter from back in the day. We forget the truth and just remember some details.
I was talking to a friend earlier and he started talking about how the plot was complicated, and all that stuff about Cloud being a clone of Zack. Just made me laugh, it's clearly been too long since he's played it- the game hints a lot that Cloud may be a clone, but he's explicitly not, that's just to mask the real reveal. And the story is a lot less complicated than probably expected too, it's only the smaller minutia that's really complex at all.
It would be nice if people stopped envisioning Cloud as either an edgelord or an emo too.
Isaiah Ramirez
it does matter since holy wasn't enough. she directed the lifestream to assist holy
Austin Powell
Holy was just activated too late to stop the meteor completely, Sephiroth was impeding it which is why it starts to work after you beat him.
Levi Edwards
At that point Sephiroth was dead though. Stopping Meteor was just a matter of saving the people in and around Midgar, not the whole world anymore. Meteorfall would've sucked shit but the planet-wide danger was past.
Jacob Wilson
I played my original case,/black disc copy so much, disc 1 became so scratched it was unreadable zoom zoom
Gabriel Reyes
>It would be nice if people stopped envisioning Cloud as either an edgelord or an emo too.
I think the remake is going to fix that misconception. Cloud in game is acting on his SOLDIER persona but he isn't an edgelord about it. He's stern, autistic, but actually has rare bouts of levity.
Dylan Nguyen
>Meteorfall would've sucked shit but the planet-wide danger was past.
No, it really wasn't.

>inb4 it's not the og ps version so it doesn't count
Gabriel Brown
I played the original on PC for the cute anime girls, but was trash at the game so I just used a save editor to max out all my stats and steamroll the game.
9/10 experience, would repeat
Wyatt Hall
I played the switch version last month and cheated to get omnislash
Luis Bennett
But I did
It's an overrated piece of shit and I have no idea why people want this remade in the first place
The story is a disjointed, cringy mess
The second half is 95% filler until Northern Crater
The characters are one-dimensional tards
Golden Saucer is pure cringe
Anthony Baker
Aerith activated Holy at the Ancient Capital, and as long as Sephiroth is alive, he can depress Holy. Sephiroth summons meteor before the final fight, and the party goes to kill him so he will stop repressing Holy. Holy is what allows the lifestream to come out and stop Meteor. Meteor would destroy the entire worlds ecosystem and life.
Brandon Sullivan
Lol dumbass
Thomas Thompson
Who's pretending? In fact, I replayed it a few months ago.
Ethan Smith
>Sephiroth summons meteor before the final fight
He summoned it when he first for the Black Materia at the Northen Cavern, it just takes awhile to get to the Planet.
>Holy is what allows the lifestream to come out and stop Meteor
There's no evidence that Holy has anything to do with the Lifestream stopping Meteor, other than the fact it does it because Holy failed.
Jack White
The biggest problem is people who played it but haven't replayed it any time recently, and have this Remake of their own in their heads without the bad pacing, the vague dialogue, idiot plots, the lack of any interaction between characters that join after Midgar (excepting the one hour Cid leads the group), the clunky minigames and more.
People remember the first 4 hours in Midgar, which was the only part of the game with dense storytelling and direction. They remember Barret vs Dyne and Red XIII in Gi Cave. They remember Cloud going mad, Aerith's death, the Reunion at North Crater, Tifa having a slap fight with Scarlet, fixing Cloud's broken mind in Mideel, fighting Weapons, Hojo's reveal and the final showdown against Sephiroth.
Everything inbetween? Kinda blurry isn't it? Remember not having a fucking clue where to go after Rocket Town? That crappy chase after the Ancient ghost at Temple of the Ancients? Remember the huge materia arc?
The oriignal has aged, and aged badly.
Leo Barnes
Holy is nothing more than a communion with the Planet, to get it to move, because it cannot move on its own.
If it could have simply destroyed Meteor with the Lifestream in the first place then Meteor would never have been a problem.
Camden Lopez
>projecting this hard
do zoomers really?
Josiah Reyes
I played it for the first time last week. It was okay, preferred Chrono Trigger and FF6
Owen Johnson
>If it could have simply destroyed Meteor with the Lifestream in the first place then Meteor would never have been a problem.
How would anyone know the Lifestream could do that?
Owen Robinson
>Remember not having a fucking clue where to go after Rocket Town?
It's almost like... you just got a new vehicle.... and the game wants you to explore.... whoa....
It's like... wow... this is your first chance to do the entire optional Wutai situation if you end up there through exploration... wow...
Jacob Nelson
holy shit
so your telling me, ON Yas Forums, that NO ONE PLAYED THE ORIGINAL FF7!?
that means that everyone is wrong about the remake to a game NO ONE ORIGINALLY PLAYED!
HOLY
FUCKING
SHIT
Justin Morgan
But I did user. I liked the Tobal demo enough to eventually pre-order the game at Babbage’s, and have played through it multiple times since then, most recently using the Ninostyle mod
For the record I liked the remake. So eat shit
Adam Ross
Cetra? By.. asking it?
If it was an option why did it not do it against Jenova 2000 years ago?
Levi Sanchez
Original is available on damn near every system that exists. Who the fuck hasnt played it by now?
Jaxon Roberts
I did, faggot. The Mog House minigame in Gold Saucer is better written than FF7Retarded
Brayden Watson
I don't need to, as I did.
Hunter Howard
>Who the fuck hasnt played it by now?
People that don't want to put up with obsolete shit?
