You literally have no excuse left.
Super Mario Maker 2 is extremely good and way surpasses the first entry on the WiiU.
You literally have no excuse left
If you want a full eight worlds you can only have five levels per world (For 40)
I guess that's enough.
B-BUT COSTUMES!
romhacks are free and I'm too lazy to make my own levels
>only SMW
That's too bad.
World maker + costumes would have been great.
You could give each world it's own theme and costume.
Make no mistake, we always knew SMM2 was far better than the first
The problem is SMM1 hit way harder because the Wii U was the best console for it. The gamepad was the perfect weight with a perfect stylus, doing it handheld on switch with a weird rubber stylus feels wrong and is uncomfortable the way kid icarus uprising was
It'll forever be dogshit until they bring back 100 man mario mode.
That's actually pretty cool, actually
It'll never fully compete with the sheer customization and effort put into romhacks, but it'd have a lot more content made for it easily by being so beginner friendly
damn, they definitely need to expand that limit. wonder why they chose 40?
Wait, really? World maker only works in SMW?
Sorry, I don't know. I read OP wrong. Thought it said "Create your own Super Mario World".
i think the map only has the SMW artstyle, not necessarily SMW only courses.
What if i'm not a manchild tho?
Yeah, the maps themselves are SMW themed but you can use whatever course you want
Ok that's cool.
I do miss the costumes, but hopefully we get more added as time that are more similar to Link rather than cosmetic. Would love to see a Bowser who can spit fireballs for instance.
>no Mario 64 maker
>no Mario Galaxy Maker
>no Mario Kart Maker
>no Mario Party Maker
Into the trash it goes
This is epic, I can't wait for the Dunkey videos on this! It'll be spaghetti and memeballs lol
then you make a good living and fuck your gf
>5 levels per world
Yikes bros...
yeah but its fucking soulless
Galaxy would be far too complicated due to its gravity mechanics. Kart would work, but there probably would only be a handful of actually good level. Kart and Party could theoretically work. 64 could work to a degree, but it still would require a lot of proper building and bug control, even working with assembly for romhacks and just various creations on the actual SM64 Maker for hacks is a pain in the ass a lot of the time.
I haven't played either so far but this seems like a cool update. Is the game just completely plagued with kaizo shit or do people actually make interesting levels?
same. I'm still mad they considering a 8 frame sprite palette too hard to edit into 4 color scheme
>need to pay for online just to play stages from other players
I don't think so, Tim.
Sprites are a lot harder than you think. That shit takes quite a bit of time in reality even with just 3 color palettes on 3-4 frames. With that said, they should already have those done and ready to go from the first game, so its a moot point regardless.
>SMBX and other fan games did this YEARS ago
>Nintendo drones prices this like something innovative
>that square map
Pathetic.
I have worked on enough sprite shit to know that no, it's not hard at all to open a file and change the palette values to find 4 sets of colors that work. especially on low res and on a system with no hardware limitation to its displayed colors.
Makes me wonder comparatively how long Kirby and Mario levels are to one another, cause Kirby games tend to have less levels and worlds.
Ah, I thought you were talking more about creating additional sprites by hand, since a lot of the costumes were actually different in terms of size and weren't just palette swaps. My mistake. But you're correct, changing the colors themselves doesn't really take any time at all.
Kirby is much shorter overall from my immediate memory.
>SMBX and other fan games did this YEARS ago
Wow, people get really obsessed with Nintendo games don't they? Like no other developer.
Sonybros get DREAMS and immediately try to recreate Nintendo games.
Why is that?
>You literally have no excuse left
Not playing platformers like Mario without a proper dpad.
>release devs tools that would be free in other modding communities
>charge fucking $60
>TWICE
>people call it innovation
what the fuck is wrong with this fanbase? look at all the amazing free goldsrc mods that came out in the early 00s, or the crazy doom wads of the 90s
I am ready for the deluge of levels where some kid puts all the Koopalings, the Bowsers, and Boom Boom together. Possibly in a box with infinite Fire Flowers.
SMM3 will give us sloped paths.
>NSMB physics in SMW
Dropped
gameplay wise, they needed to add the Hundred Mario modes back in. it gave you a set goal to work toward. I had a lot of fun working through those modes alone and with friends. plus it's an excuse to have more unlockables like Mii clothing or bringing back some of the amiibo costumes.
designing levels is annoying without the touchpad. it's doable, but maybe the game should have come with a stylus? I know collectors editions did but the Wii u gamepad was perfect for designing levels
and for content, this update has a lot of stuff that I wanted and a lot of stuff I didn't know I wanted. so I am very excited. but there's still a lot of things that they're missing. I'm hoping that if Mario Maker 3 includes all of this content, then they would have the opportunity to include the other stuff. just some thoughts of things that we don't have yet that would make the game a lot more fun:
>pulleys and cranks
>ladders, ropes, chains, swinging ropes
>anything from the arcade games (barrels, oil barrels, hammer, golden hammer, pull levers, electric doors, klaptraps, freezies, sidesteppers, fighter flies...)
>more offbeat powerups like the super carrot, the hammer suit, the music box, the ice flower, the blue shell, the gold flower, the coin box, the wings from Mario Special...)
>more music and SFX like Jump Up Superstar, the DK Arcade intro, the bonus game music from SMB3, any music from All Stars...
>Charging Chuck, Fuzzies, Fire Chomp, Fire Snake, Sparky, Rex, Dino Rhino, Sumo Bro, Ice Bro, Boomerang Bro, Fire Bro in other styles, Reznor, Rotodisc, Hot Foot, Amps...just to name some
>SMB2, SML, SML2 styles or whatever else
>quicksand
>ability to have lava or water on any stage
>ability to add a ceiling that falls on certain stages, maybe one you can stop with an on/off block
>new level themes like Beach, Special Stage, Fortress, Volcano, Dark World...
