the remake has ghosts trying to secure the timeline we know (a metaphor for purist fans that dont want the events of the story to change) at the end of the game you kill the plot ghosts which ripples into the past. Zack manages to defeat the shinra soldiers trying to kill him. However this results in a different timeline. Now we have the normal timeline where zack is dead and cloud and co continue their search for sephiroth and another timeline where zack survived his death scene and brought cloud back to midgar. We dont know the implications of it.

Haven't caught too much of his streams since I'm a Eurofag and only catch it some times if I wake up early enough, but Vinny seems pretty fair about it so far, liking the actual remade stuff and not the Nomura fuckery, even said the new music doesn't really suit FF7, which I agree with but I don't think I've seen anyone else say that yet. He has yet to reach the last chapter but I'm guessing his final verdict will be something like "the nomura stuff was bad but overall it was a good".

Also saw someone say epicnamebro didn't like it but I don't follow him.

I really liked Zack so wouldn't be against a continuation of his story. Plus the 2 timelines stuff could justify another game and the canon differences.

That sounds very similar to Plague's take. Basically everything is at least good though some could use a bit of polish, the remixed music is often not great and Nomura's new stuff can fuck off. Also Sephiroth's character is terrible but that kind of ties into the Nomura problem.

I'm sure there are a bunch of autists out there moaning they didn't get a 1:1 remake despite knowing about Sephiroth Everywhere System, and Watcher/Keepers of Fate beforehand.

I think it’s likely that there was a Jenova cell memory switcheroo and now Zack believes himself to be a Shinra grunt who gets motion sickness. He could be one of the officers who recognizes Cloud.

Especially when it was announced Nomura was in charge. What really cemented it being shit for me was Toriyama being co-director. If you bought this and whinge about it, you're an idiot.

I don't mind the remake having a different story, but time ghosts are retarded. Square has literally made better timey wimey bullshit with VIII, and Nomura worked on that too.

7R is not amazing by any means. The best thing it does is the motion-blur. Everything else is mediocre to terrible.
