Realistically? They keep the wood drenched and waxed. Also, if you burn down the whole wall there's no point in taking over the fortification.

They say they fixed the AI a bit but all you need to do is spam a few hits even on Challenging. There's just a few more surprise chambers from them, but otherwise it's pretty bad.

Oh my god, it's such a difference. Battles are actually fun now that I don't get killed because my game slowed down to 10 fps once the enemy gets in weapon reach.
