Well for one thing he actually appears during gameplay and isn't exclusively in cutscenes.

I prefer Nemesis but they really needed to use him more in the Remake.

Mr. X isn't a roaring CGI Hollywood monster that only appears in scripted events, he is a giant mute asshole who wanders the map and wants to violently fist you.
Mr. X in the RE2 remake does what Nemesis did in the original RE3. Nemesis in the RE3 remake does what Mr. X did in the original RE2.
Luis Butler
1. He's a lot faster than you in a straight line 2. There are no obvious rules where he will be, where he can go and what he can or cannot do 3. He puts you between a rock and a hard place at inconvenient times 4. In a game about being deliberate and careful he makes you drop everything or you will be creamed
Mr. X is evilly stoic, compared to Nemesis's very generic BALLRARAHAKUGKAHGAKHGAKLJLA look.

Look at the areas of each game REmake 2 was most of the RPD Mr. X chases you in.
REmake 3 was the demo area and he spidermans everywhere. They were too lazy to even use ladder climbing. Get to ladder, he spidermans, ooooh scary.
Thomas King
I feel like he had more of a personality

Mr X is a trailblazer, and stoic with great work ethic, he's a company man come calling; symbol of old-America, works with his hands. Nemesis on the other hand is forever in his shadow, a spoiled, privileged child who's never worked an honest day in his life.
Hot damn, this is kinda true isn't it. I just played through OG 2 again, and Mr. X does just appear once in awhile and die in 5 shotgun shells. Nemesis whips onto screen occasionally and just falls to a grenade in the new one. I never put that together before.
Nemesis ended up being a watered-down Mr. X and everyone was expecting the opposite. Even if you have trouble fighting him, you don't even encounter him that much. They probably should have gave this game some more space between RE2 so they could just how much of an impact Mr. X had on people so they could try to recreate that.
I just love that X is supposed to be an "Infiltration" model. Imagine they're in the final quarter of T-103 development and they get a memo like "must feature espionage capacity" and they're all fuck best we can do is duck out to the local Big & Tall Menswear.
Something a lot scarier about the simplicity of his design. He looks like a giant, ugly human but he's totally devoid of humanity (he reminds me of the movie Mimic, which was terrifying to me as a kid and still has some deeply unsettling imagery). Nemesis looks like a Xenomorph covered in electrical tape and trash bags. Also, he's an actual threat that appears somewhat organically while you're playing and not just in scripted boss fights or cutscenes. If Nemesis functioned the same, like he did in the original game, he would be as memorable and intense despite his less creepy and more overtly monstrous appearance.

Hes just more fun to avoid. I remember in Remake 3 when Nemesis uses his tendril to force you back in front of him and remembered thinking that was really cheap. All Mr. X does is chase you and throw punches but the police station is such a confined and dangerous spac e thad ibs ajll he neaf
I suspect that RE4's remake is going to make the chainsaw enemies into just one guy who pursues you constantly. That or change it so that horrifying nearly invincible bug boss is chasing you through the whole game instead of just that one tunnel sequence.
Levi Murphy
X's function as the final cog in the machine of 2make's enemy encounters can't be understated, once he's introduced the game is in full swing, becoming this dynamic game of cat and mouse, where X forces you to react and change plans on your feet, make decisions out of your comfort zone, get you interact with the game's full suite of mechanics.
I only wish their was a further incentive to shooting him outside of a stun, ammo drops are the obvious, but maybe something more substantial could have been on offer; get an environment stun by dropping a chandelier on him an he drops a pistol or something.
Adrian Ward
I do like to imagine Umbrella's almost endearingly incompetent.
Liam Russell
The feeling of being hunted is the most terrifying feeling a human can experience. Even grown, hard ass men can be reduced to quivering puddles of fear from prolonged exposure.
It exists as a remnant from our past as prey animals instead of being the most apex of apex predators. The feeling of being hunted is exhilarating.
This worked better bfore this site had captcha, there's no way he could be dying mid sentence and THEN select all the slowly disappearing fire hydrants.
Luke Moore
It's literally sound design. Mr. X is scary in the remake because you can constantly hear him stomping around the police station. There is a fear when you hear him stomp passed the doorway of the room you're in which brings a brief respite then the fear doubles when you hear his steps pause as he turns around and starts coming back while you panic and try to figure out how you're going to get by him when he's about to come through the only exit. Nemesis is creepy for sure but when he shows up it's just a quick chase sequence with not real lasting fear other than the initial "oh fuck"
Easton Hall
This is the simplest way of explaining it. Nemesis simultaneously does too much and too little in his remake. He is a recurring boss battle but his impact wears off by the time you're fighting him directly (and when you do fight him he's a big retarded monster.) Most instances of him chasing you involve some scripted bullshit like a ranged grab or simply running along a straight path to keep the movie going. There is really nothing as simple as you organically going through the game and completing tasks only for Nemesis to enter the room and startle you.
Aaron Hernandez
Now I need someone with drawing talent, the idea of Nemesis sitting in one of those little college desks, timidly raising a hand to whisper "s.t.a.r.s.?" is too funny to me. There's just one scientist pointing at pictures of Jill or something.
Jordan Hernandez
The unnatural creases on his face are a great touch, really sells the "artificial humanoid/grown in a lab" character design.
There is literally no reason to remake 4 right now. The HD remaster looks good and there hasn't been a massive graphical improvement from it's release to current day like there was in 2 and 3.
Luis Cox
