Yep, I'm thinking it's a red flag.

I still don't the plot of this kid's game
Whycouldn't she just go back to see her mother?

He's right. Trying to pull heartstrings is one thing, but Mario games try to do it with brand new characters nobody cares about yet. They're like Sonic games that way

Well I loved it because my mother was a drug addict who regularly left me sitting in a car all day as a toddler while she begged for money and then when I was taken away from her by CPS she never contacted me again despite us both living in the same town to this day, and since I ended up being raised by my grandfather and older brother I never really understood what a mother's love was like so seeing how kind Rosa was to all of her adoptive children and that she herself had gone through some rough stuff made me fall in love with her as a teen playing Galaxy to the point where I still to this day think about her telling me encouraging words and hugging me when I'm alone, which is always since I'm basically incapable of caring about real humans and never made any friends or had a proper relationship of any kind with a woman.

So yeah, it might be a red flag.

I don't know, I remember people growing fond of Rosalina pretty quickly back in 07. I think Rosalina's storybook worked for what it was. It was out of the way and completely optional, and it was no where near as over the top as Sonic the Hedgehog fucking dying or kissing a realistic human woman.

>I hate lore

Why don't you just kill yourself while you're at it?

What the fuck are you going on about? Is this going to be another thread where a retarded schizophrenic screeches about something literally nobody else took a problem with?

>I'm basically incapable of caring about real humans
Including your grandparents and older brother?

Also to add to this I'm fully aware of how irrational my love for Rosa is, like how I get angry when thinking about how the more recent games treat her, that is to say how they've tried to turn her into a brainless typical Mario character who can only smile and go "Wahoo!" when in Galaxy her more mature and restrained manners were literally her best aspects behind her kindness to her children, like if I could I would hit Sakurai in the jaw for thinking it was OK to have Rosa in Smash use Luma as disposable weapons god I'm breaking out in a sweat just thinking about that stupid fucking shit, she doesn't even acknowledge it when HER FUCKING KIDS DIE, I would honestly have rather she not even be in Smash at all, or any game outside of Galaxy and maybe Kart if they added Luma in some fashion, just goes to show what happens when the genius of a single man is taken by a corporation and twisted into something to make money it's disgusting.

Its cute and does its job.
Pauline or Daisy or whatever don't need a backstory like that but Rosalina naturally had an air of mystery to her since she's a lone woman living on a weird space station. It provides context for her without feeling out of place in a Mario game since its framed like a children's fairy tale.

The actual story ending of Galaxy is a way more egregious example of unnecessary and confusing storytelling in a game where it doesn't belong

and if it was with an established one you'd say they're ruining a legacy character for some forced drama

Yes. My grandfather actually died last year and I didn't feel a thing, and more or less had to be forced to even go to his funeral. My brother moved out of state a few years back and I haven't spoken to him since the funeral I think. I'm not trying to be edgy or anything, for whatever reason I don't have whatever it takes to care about other people, I'm not a monster though I love my cat and plenty of fictional characters from games and shows, maybe because they're easier to understand? Oh well.

I was ready to call you out on the being one of those reddit nihilist misanthropes who love the heckin doggerino's and hate humanity and wish they were all dead(but not themselves, their friends and their family of course! They're the only good ones!)

But it sounds like you developed legitimate mental illness due to your mother.

OP, you have no soul.

I don't want to sound like an armchair psychiatrist but I think you might be a sociopath.

That's not true. I wouldn't have a problem with the Mario Bros themselves having a darker backstory. In fact I don't think anybody would.
The only problem is if you did that, it would open the series up to more cringeworthy fan works

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed this.

I was given a deferred diagnosis of schizoid personality disorder around 16 or so but I don't put much stock in anything that particular doctor told me.

>but I don't put much stock in anything that particular doctor told me.
Have you thought about seeing a different doctor?

This. Smash is magical sumo wrestling.

I agree with the other user about you being a sociopath
Although this is completely armchair psychiatrist speaking here, but if I ain't wrong sociopaths usually develop because of issues they had growing up. Also IIRC from my high school health class sociopaths usually can understand they have a problem while psychopaths don't.
Basically you can get help and probably should, may make you happier idk

Ended up seeing three different ones between middle school and the end of high school and a few councilors here and there but I never felt like I got anything out of it and pills definitely didn't help anything either.

Well shit, I don't know what to tell ya. These visits sound like they were a long time ago, maybe you should get a more recent look. You should also tell them about how distant you feel from your family.

Thread

Ok tell me how you'd continue the plot line of Rosalina in games that have absolutely nothing to do with her?

It served some sort of purpose in Galaxy 1/2 but beyond that 3D Mario has moved on and nobody has a backstory in Mario Kart.

What was wrong with it? Genuinely asking here

>nobody cares about yet.
They didn't pull the sad shit until a few chapters in... After you got time to know the character...

Yeah you just have to look at the 2nd and 3rd Paper Mario to see what going that route causes.
