Loved the soundtrack on that level.
There is something special about MP1. Like, Echoes and Corruption are not even close in terms of soul, though they are somewhat better in some cases. I don't have any nostalgia over it, I played it for the first time in 2017, but there's something special about that location and especially, no idea why, that shitty electronic remix of Phendrana Drifts in the later parts of it that makes me think of being a teenager, sitting at home in 2003, eating shitton of milk chocolate and being carefree.

Dreamcast was a soulless failed cash grab, Sega could have still held on and got all the games the later released on, ps2, Xbox and Gamecube. Also if they stayed around halo would of been dream cast exclusive and saved Thier areses.
MP1 just had overall better world and level design.
I've never played Corruption, but Echoes had far less diversity in world design and thus, it was a lot less fun to explore. The other bad thing about Echoes is that its very premise and new mechanic wasn't implemented well. Going into Aether didn't feel like you were entering a new plane of existence of entirely new possibilities and avenues for exploration. It just felt like a superficial filter over the same level you were in, so going into Aether felt more like a chore and less like you were actually exploring a new dimension.
Also, the Luminoth were lame compared to the Chozo. With MP1, Samus' journey like she was fulfilling a lost prophecy for the Chozo and trying to redeem them since they were the ones who made the Metroids and their role in the story is basically ushering in a redemption arc that they cannot perform physically but can act on through Samus.
The Luminoth/Ing dichotomy was just a very typical and generic LIGHT GOOD DARK BAD story.
I agree with you, I didn't understand the praise Echoes gets, even though some rooms' design was tremendous (that first portal to dark world, for instance) and some new features were cool, I guess.
>Also, the Luminoth were lame compared to the Chozo
Shit taste user. Prophecies are a garbage plot device even in high fantasy and Samus didn't achieve much in MP1 given all the Chozo there either fucked off or died.
To each their own.
Sanctuary Fortress is my favorite level in the entire trilogy. Prime 2's presentation was pretty fantastic to me.
>mono sound
I recently played Prime 1 for the first time, and although it has it's problem, this level was fucking amazing.
I need a wallpaper of this
Why the fuck did Metroid fall off so hard after having a pretty healthy revival through the 00's anyway
Other M happened
I know the game is terrible with first-hand experience but didn't it sell decently still? Surely it didn't warrant the franchise going into hiatus
game?
Witcher 1, some later act/chapter.
Man Magus is such a fag.
I remember Reggie going on full cope mode and lie about being proud about the game breaking 1 million sales. truth is that something must have happened internally. they celebrated Kirby's, Mario's, etc anniversary but haven't done so for Metroid yet. it is obvious that they don't want another backlash the likes of other m, specially after fed force bombed so hard. I'm glad Metroid is still alive, God knows I want more games and for it to avoid f-zero's fate.
the original ratchet and clank games are pure soul
