Sephiroth's introduction is perfect in the OG, I think one of the directors said they were inspired by JAWS in that Sephiroth is gradually introduced. I'd say the remake's handling of that is probably the worst thing about it.

It’s already ruined the first because we’ve heard his villain music and seen Sephiroth go full one winged angel and throwing buildings at you before we’ve even left Midgar. The Kalm flashback wont have any impact.
The second because they will probably fuck with the death scene in some way. They’re already setting up for that clearly. I still habe a hunch she will die but it wont be in the way we remember.
Kinda sad tbqh. I wouldnt have even minded the twist so much if they had covered most of disc 1 before revealing it. So many kino moments probably wont happen or feel inconsequential if they do.

They weren't, Shera served as his housemaid and just swallowed all of Cid's abuse because it was her fault he couldn't accomplish his dream of going to space. Later then he finds out she was right with one of the tanks being damaged, meaning she'd have saved his life, and apologizes to her. You can bet Cid went back to spend some time with her right before the final fight with Sephiroth.

I really love the remake on its own terms but Sephiroth is terrible in it. He's over-exposed, and too early at that, in addition to ramping up his Advent Children antagonistic smirking pretty boy routine past the point of tolerance. So many of his great moments in parts 2 and beyond just aren't gonna have the same impact.

I was hoping for a VI remake but if this is the king thing that will happen to it I hope it never happens, Kefka's whole thing is that he is a literal bozo for the first part of the game and becomes the final boss out of nowhere because he is that crazy, can you imagine how horrible it would be if this happened to him?

I agree but Crisis Core already ruined that. That and the part in OP’s pic are important parts of FF7 but I don’t think Kitase, Nojima, or Nomura even know this. They get lost (or they will get lost) in these revisions. Clearly there aren’t important to them despite being the original writers sans Nomura
