story makes more sense than 7r
I don't think you can. Like, only one GF comes with that ability.
Rinoa is cute
Quistis is hot
It's more complex than you think
squalls development is kino and him smiling at the end is incredibly cathartic
i remember being excited that 8 would finally have "realistic" graphics for the character models and not weird chibi polygonal models like FF7 had. ultimately it was a pretty bland forgettable story, but the music and atmosphere make it at least a good way to pass time between playing better games
It's my favorite FF8. The soundtrack goes without saying. The card game is a great aside, in addition to enabling all kinds of shenanigans. So because of Diablo, and because you can turn cards into magic, and junction magic, and because the enemies scale to your level, it's the only FF where you can skip random battles and be able to take on bosses while being insanely under leveled. That makes the game incredibly replayable. If you want to challenge yourself and make the game harder, or just experience the story, you can have it any way you like. I love that. I also really like the emphasis on interpersonal relations. The plot takes you all over god's creation, but that's just a backdrop for the emotions people are processing, and the communication difficulties they're dealing with. I'm hyping it up and now I want to play it again. Easily in my top 10, and I'm not even a JRPG person.
Four discs isn't too much
>It's my favorite FF8
I mean what else could it be?
Imagine a comma.
No one can and if they do its pure nostalgia or being a pasty white boy who "has a connection" with Squall.
Only good thing about the game was the final area and gunblades as a design.
isn't squall asian?
It has a lot of interesting systems like Refining and SEED Salary (Gain gold periodically based on a Macro-level appraisal of combat behaviour as whole) as opposed to getting Gold instantly after a fight based on fight difficulty, which can actually make for a kinda interesting case of fund management.
I mean, CARD GAEMS breaks it, but my point is that it is very experimental and non-traditional, even for a FF title.
I beat it for the first time today and it's tied for my favorite in the series with IX, not sure what's to defend. The plot and junction system have issues but at least they tried something different.
The music are cinematics are objectively fantastic.
based
robin williams is the principal of a mercenary school for orphans.
It's my favorite ff8 too
Gunblades are fucking cool, the card game was ace, and drawing magic was broken, but in a good way.
Good design
Great musics
Agree with your points. It's the one title I always enjoy returning to for some reason.
It's the last good Final Fantasy game.
It was the first FF I played and it made a big impact on me.I have an extremely specific nostalgia for the footsteps sound effect. I could spend an hour just running around in that game, I love it. I've never finished it though. Disc 2 simply refuses to work.
I have an elaborate daydream where I help Spoony clean up his life, and he grows dependent on me. Then one day I quietly slide a pristine copy of Final Fantasy VIII across the desk. I relate to him how important the game is to me, and everything I like about it. If he really cares about me, he'll play the game one more time. And I ask him to give his fans the review they deserve. After playing the game with a renewed sense of optimism, he sees the error of his ways, realizes he's just like Squall, and gets over his bullshit right then and there. Then it's 50/50 whether I use what I've learned about him to break his heart at that exact moment.
Why not finish it on an emulator?
FF8 has the most late 90s cover ever.
I've got a bunch of other shit to play, but one day probably. Part of me wants to hold on to those memories and not tarnish them. A lot of people have told me the game takes a big nosedive after disc 1. Nice digits.
>It's the one title I always enjoy returning to for some reason.
It's pure action until a bit into the second disc. Like nonstop. Then you stop and smell the roses for 2 seconds, maybe play some cards and its more action until disc 3. The beginning of FFVIII is very easy to get into
I can assure you that every moment of the game from beginning to end is like a haze of romance, Xanax, and wine.
The trips demand you finish FFVIII now
No
I like it
What's really fascinating is how Square was able to use the Guardian Forces to interfere with your memory of the game.
