Vivi's grossly overrated. Most of his dramatic scenes are him standing around with a literal blank expression on his face for the the player to insert their own interpretation of how he feels, and towards the end of the game it almost feels like he exists specifically to invalidate Kuja's feelings regarding his own lifespan.

Its also worth nothing that he learns of and gets over the fact that he's going to die within the next few years in a total of exactly two scenes. I counted on my most recent playthrough.

He's an interesting concept executed very poorly.

If you want to see the same concept of coping with/accepting mortality done on a much better level, play the trilogy of Koudelka/Shadow Hearts and Shadow Hearts Covenant.

But as for Final Fantasy, Squall is far and beyond anyone else. You spend most of the game getting deep in his head, and trying to understand him as a character, why he is the way that he is, and slowly watching as he vehemently rejects, then tries, stumbles, and eventually makes baby steps towards becoming a better person.

This deserved a remake much more than 7 AND the time travel stuff would have made perfect sense in ff8 lore.

If I wanted to play this should I emulate or play remastered

He always cared for Rinoa. He was desperately trying to convince himself that he didn't because he was terrified of getting attached to her and being left. Once he realized that he was about to lose her regardless during the events of disc 3, he was finally able to acknowledge why he was pushing her away, accept that he does care, and take action to save her.

what if she was inept then? it was most likely a consequence of Squall not giving her the D, it caused hormonal imbalance and emotional distress.

Quistis was the hottest one yet the only character that ended up alone and demoted, the original femcel. Only thing she had was the disgusting neckbeards from her fanclub. Truly the most tragic character.
