Basically two of your squad members have to go on a suicide mission.
One is story locked while the other you get to pick from your total roster ( sans other story party members)
You then have to complete a mission with the chosen characters which ends with the one you picked holding off the enemy while the story character goes on ahead to finish the job.
Then said story character also dies but saves everyone else.
It's really impactful emotionally since the main cast all slowly realize no one is making it back from this mission this time.
I also picked a war vet who lost her whole team previously and lived in a drunken stupor because it made the pain hurt less, so I viewed this as her finally getting peace.
Her last line is something like "Always knew my day would come."
But every squad member has a unique few lines they say before dying.
It's good stuff.
