It's pretty good and fun. Better than mainline entry where you need to grind long hours to kill the superbosses instead of using a set of skills.

>Set up your characters to automatically heal when damaged and automatically attack enemies
Wow it's like I'm actually playing a video game 10/10!

The setting and tone are great but the gameplay is pretty dull. The combat lacks that extra mechanic or gimmick to keep it interesting, it's just a very literal barebones interpretation of ATB but in real-time and with gambits (optional customizable AI that plays the game for you). And it doesn't have the QoL that existed in RTwP games from years before, you can't control your party's positioning at all, even though there are position-based AOE attacks.

>2020
>Trannies keep trying to push absolute trash like FF12 is a good game

You couldn't be more S O Y if you posted from reddit.

It's only or there is alwyas the same thread at the same hours on Yas Forums about XII everyday with the same argument??

FFXII was great and if they let the team make a new FF instead of letting the FFX team shit up the series further with FFXIII, the series would be in a better place.
There is a reason why FFXIV is so well appreciated considering the FFXII team worked on it.

>I understand that all of you hate FFVIIR
? I loved FFVIIR. The fuck you saying. A lot of people actually do.

Who from FFXII worked on FFXIV besides the artist, and Matsuno for one DLC?

Hey we could be like Yas Forums with 1 million jewbots posting niggerporn.

XIV was a fucking disaster until they booted everyone out, changed directors, and turned it into a WoW clone you dumb nigger

The last good Final Fantasy was FFVII Remake

I've been more involved playing FFXII than I did playing any other FF. Mention your favorite FF right here and now so I can laugh at how much more involving it is

World of Final Fantasy

And Square and Yoshida brought the FFXII team with him you fucking idiot. I'm obviously talking about the ARR reboot. The original FFXIV was worked on by the FFXI team

>Kazutoyo Maehiro worked on FF Tactics, Vagrant Story and FFXII, he said in a live letter that Matsuno was his biggest influence on his career. He was the main scenario writer of ARR and Heavensward and became the scenario supervisor of Stormblood and Shadowbringers.
>Hiroshi Minagawa was the art director and UI lead of the same games as Maehiro worked on. He was part of the task force that salvaged FFXIV 1.0 and completely retooled the interface and created the concept for ARR. He created the cross-hotbar to make the game controller-friendly and he is the art director of Stormblood and Shadowbringers
>Ayumi Namae and Akihiko Yoshida are both character designers for FFXIV that worked on FFXII.
>Takeo Suzuki is the art team lead of FFXIV. He also was the lead in FFXII. He oversees everything that is 3D.
>Matsuno himself is involved in the Ivalice raid and the relic
>Naoki Yoshida literally said the reason he joined Square was because he wanted to work with Matsuno and that FFXII was a huge source of inspiration for the lore and worldbuilding of FFXIV ARR

Writers, Scenario directors, event Directors, designers, programmers

I could swear ii've see the same shitsposting thread yesterday. Just Sage and return to shitpost about FF7R

I think I've been seeing this for years. Or maybe I've finally lost it.

>attack nearest
>heal if low
>fast forward on

Gameplay

When I was a kid playing FF games on PSX, I would often end up getting to the final boss severely underleveled and get immediately crushed because I went into the games with no notion of strategy or synergy. I had a habit of dropping one and moving back to it later to actually get through everything

As an adult FFXII is the only game in the series where I got to the last boss and just dropped the game entirely because literally nothing about the last 20 hours I had sunk into the game had any narrative value related to what was happening and the ability to pre-program a reactive strategy into the game made literally no encounters remotely tense as I would just sit there and watch my party auto-attack everything to death. It's the cheesiest game in the franchise besides VIII

There are people who UNIRONICALLY defend this combat system.

It blows my mind, they're literally drooling retards.

but bro, there's like three whole bosses you have to remove berserk from if you're not grossly overleveled, the game totally has real gameplay

YOUR TASTE IS SHIT, FUCKING NIGGER!

You dumbfucks are all pretending, but Yas Forums and GFaqs were basically seething at how difficult the original game was and there is still a sea of threads about it back in 2006. People couldn't accept that you had to use buffs and debuffs in order to beat enemies considering you never had to do that in the series.
The combat system was legitimately more involving especially in the later stages of the game. It has the most challenging content in the series too with the hunt system and all its optional bosses in the wild.

The original game didn't have the speed up function and while it was harder than IZJS and TZA, it was still really easy albeit boring as fuck.

You are LITERALLY defending a game that plays itself 99%. Not "press X to win" but LITERALLY plays itself. All you have to do is tilt the analog stick, 99% of the time, and you win.
