Be pokemon

Why would anyone want that

A good game.

They need to really lean into how fucking edgy and hardcore Digimon is compared to Pokemon. You have to make Digimon look like its for badasses and Pokemon like its for babies.

Kids fucking love that shit.

Gameplay first game
Cyber Sluts was alright but it was very story heavy explorationg light

Test

Make more games that actually tie into anime that get aired.

Americans love shit games

Not enough useless stripe decals and neon colors. These folks wouldn't cut it.

Digimon is good because of it's story. Pokemon is good because of it's lack of story.

Probably something that would make it worse overall.

It can't. It's been 20+ years since it was introduced to the West and since then it never caught on and had the appeal Pokémon did. The misconception of it being a Pokémon clone will always stick to I think no matter what it does and it will never be able to shake it off. It is fated to always have decent, but ultimately less success than Pokémon ever will.

However, this is not necessarily a bad thing, as a desire for it to become more popular and reach those sales figures that Pokémon has could drive the franchise to keep pumping out quality products (whether those be anime, games, or some other medium) while Pokémon, holding a monopoly on the market, is more content to push out mediocrity.

Turn based combat isn't awfully popular in west I guess. Also not being able to control your digmon directly seems to be a huge turn off for most western players.
So I wonder why they haven't tried something like world, but you actually control your digimon in the fight, and in maps you move as the tamer. Make a small intro scene for fights where the transition from tamer to digimon happens, and have a small arena to fight, like next order (or even something similar to .hack//G.U).

Kids loved that shit.. 20 years ago and Digimon was made explicitly with that sentiment in mind (they're the embodiment of the 90s extreme edginess). Nowadays who the fuck knows what kids love because I can't isolate any single idea, soft shapes and pastel colors?

DI-DI-DI-DIGIMON

>make it more like the anime, where the digimon talk, and actually function as another major protagonist alongside the player
>tone down the humanoid shit, it was novel at first but now everyfucking endgame digimon might as well be a cosplayer, whether male or female

Release the games during the holiday and sell the anime to a channel that won't air episodes in a dogshit timeslot.

They like memes. Weirdchamp pog pog pog

>make it more like the anime, where the digimon talk, and actually function as another major protagonist alongside the player
You've never played a Digimon game before.

>critters evolve during and de-evolves after fights
shit gimmick. big brain pokeballs allow big monsters to be carried around without problems

just make a good game
we don't need more crap

Filtered pokeretard

Digimon lacks the meta that gives Pokemon so much depth beyond it's child-like atmosphere.
It also lacks Persona's more focused relationship system.
But what makes it stand out from both of these is that it has better "tamagochi"-like elements, meaning you can interact with your Digimon in more ways than just during a battle. They should focus on that aspect.

Retard, that only happens in anime and digimon world 3.

More fuckable females and digimon

It's ridiculous that I'm not allowed to fuck my Angewomon in game yet

Consistancy

>lacks meta
I can actually agree with this. It is kind of boring how in world all the digimon are basically the same once you hit all stats +800.
In cyber sleuth it was a bit different, but the stat distribution barely made much different than getting different evolutions.

The franchise is getting more popular again now

Cyber Sleuth really suffered from that problem, I feel. I could just get any moves I wanted on any Digimon through basic digivolution lines, and by the end they all felt samey with the exceptions of their signature attacks.

Competent people behind the scenes
Toei's whole """"plan"""" for that is DUDE, WARGREYMON LMAO"
Bamco's """"plan"""" is basically nothing at all.
It just needs more solid marketing and direction. Digimon lacks a consistent tone and genre. The anime and the games will flipflop between genres at a drop of a hat.

Japan does too.
But you're right, it has noting to do with the games being good or not, considering that shit games sell quite often relative to their shittiness.

Not having a protagonist who wants to fuck his little sister

A regular ass battle system
No farming, no stupid reincarnation shit, no 1 million billion gameplay mechanics, no baby shit

Bandai of America realizing that with Hasbro owning the Power Rangers license now and that they can't rely on recent Disney films and older-audience aimed anime figures they should milk the fuck out of Digimon before a company like Hasbro gets it if they're smart. Especially with a reboot of the season everyone knows about airing right now.

put the cartoon back on TV
then I would say shill a bunch of toys
but kids are probably more interested in mobile gaming now

How is the adventure reboot?

yearly or bi yearly releases on handheld systems.

I think the digimon gacha game is fairly popular. But it seems pretty shitty, because when you roll like agumon, it only has certain evolution path available as far as I know.
Like agumon -> tyrannomon -> wathever. Then you roll different and it is the "canon" one with greymon etc.

Make tai end with sora and TK with tai's sister (i forgot her name).

It has been fairly good. It basically did mini version of our war game movie. And in 4th episode they are finally in the digiworld.

Neat I will have to check it out, absolutely love the movie.

Spending more on advertising, as in, far, far more. Pokemon isn't liked in America because it's good, or creative, or fun, or anything, it's liked because it's Pokemon. Americans buy into advertising to a comical degree, brands are more important than any practical values, they do things to show off or be a part of something more than they do them because they want to or because they like doing them. Trying to gain popularity with an approach geared to normal human beings is a recipe for failure.

Don't give a shit about "more popular", I just want a game where MY Digimon are allowed to be on par with NPC Digimon when it comes to speaking. World games? Essentially pets, don't speak at all. Story games? Only speak while in the farm, absolutely nothing to comment while they're actually physically with you.
That's why I'm really hoping Survive goes hard on this. They better fucking make me care about my Agumon.
