Because unlike the remake Cloud in Smash is actually faithful to the source material.

Several characters look better in Smash than they do in their own games.

It was meant to remake Cloud based off of his original designs
The new game is trying to reimagine cloud based off of his KH appearances.

Proper stylization instead of trying to make an over-the-top anime character design realistic.

they should have stayed the animeish approach for Remake, they forgot why FF7 was a hit in the first place.
