What makes them so different that I shouldn’t pirate their games?

how was the most recent batsu game?

>Game is EA or recently released
>user comes on Yas Forums begging for the pirated update
lmao

>Indie game
>It's a shallow imitation of an arcade / NES / SNES era game
>Playing the original game that """""inspired""""" the indie game would be a better use of your time

They aren't even worth a pirate.

examples?

Shovel knight

All of them.
Or are you going to tell me that Metroid clone No. 3034978437893248970348970324 isn't """""""""""""""""""""""""""""inspired"""""""""""""""""""""""" by Super Metroid, a SNES game?

but they're doing it for the love of the craft. They should just be happy i'm playing their game at all.

>actually playing video games

nah, I mean
which games are inferior to the games they were inspired by
I can think of tons of pixel indie games which are better than almost any game I have played on nes/snes

This.

Who cares. I only buy the game if the devs actually deserve it. For example: the Hotline Miami games, LISA, Cuphead, Return of the Obra Dinn, and the Lethal League games.

indie doesn't exactly mean they're passionate about their game, just that they're independent developers

/thread

Much better than the last one.

Except being "passionate for the medium" is their selling point. They're independent because they don't believe in the traditional developer - publisher system and the path it forced videogames on during the past 15 years.

Therefore you don't need to pay for their games. Paying them would be enabling the same business-oriented scheme they're opposed to.

>They're independent because they don't believe in the traditional developer - publisher system and the path it forced videogames on during the past 15 years.
They're indie because they want to work on their own stuff. That's the only thing they have in common.
>WTF what do you mean I can't pluck your apples? This is your own, independent farm, therfore you are doing this out of passion and to go against big agriculture.

Yes. So?

Projecting intent doesn't justify thievery.

It's not thievery when the fruits of labor aren't made with profit in mind.
Indie developers make games because they love the medium and want to do their own games, as you say, not because they want to make money from them; their goal is making the games they want to make and getting people to play those games.

>WTF what do you mean I can't pluck your apples? This is your own, independent farm, therfore you are doing this out of passion and to go against big agriculture.
Yes. The land belongs to the Earth, not to you.

>not because they want to make money from them
Why do many indie games cost money?

It's a symbolic price required for the game to be allowed on commercial platforms.
Again, it doesn't mean you have to pay said price.

Indie game developers are usually politically retarded so I want to make sure they don't make money. But I don't want to not experience video games, so I pirate. :)

Games can be provided for free on all commercial platforms.
