>not a single good MMO
what went so wrong bros?
Not a single good MMO
cute parfait fairy
MMOs are a fundamentally shitty genre. You will never relive that feeling you got playing them as a child because it was all in your head.
You can't top perfection (WoTLK)
I just want an MMO where I can play as a cute little anime girl that doesn't look like a gremlin or a potato.
WoW killed the Western MMO
Korea killed everything else
"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""people"""""""""""""""""" like you
You always post this reply user, what MMO game crushed your heart?
Hytale coming soon
PSO2 coming soon.
>PSO2 coming soon.
its been out in english for years
So not like you irl?
When's DQX
Never played star sonata?
MMOs were killed by a combination of WoW and mobile gaming. After WoW's runaway success, every MMO being released was just a shitty attempt to ape WoW and that killed any creativity or diversity within the genre. The final nail within the coffin, however, was the shift away to more casual gaming mediums which didn't require subscription fees but which still boasted multiplayer functionality and microtransactions.
If and when WoW dies the genre will die with it -- WoW was basically the lightning in a bottle that sustained it for this long anyway.
>hytale
>bought by RIOT
>need ccp rootkit to play it
fuck that
Ah yes, the english patched but japanese servers so laggy as hell experience, so fun
>not a single good MMO
Many old MMOs people have nostalgia for are still up and running, be it the real thing or pserver.
I learned that I actually don't want to play a MMO anymore, I revisited all the old games I used to love.
Retarded ass quests, mindless grinding and mostly repetitive gameplay is really not fun in 2020 when you saw so much better stuff.
I only played MMOs cuz they were cheaper in the long run than buying 60$ games all the time.
>t. lazy fag who never played it
Keep up with the time, grandpa. It's mobile MMO age.
based
Who is this cutie?
She's from a Japanese toy commercial aimed at little girls and pedophiles.
what went wrong is that internet culture as a whole changed
I can count on one hand the amount of bros that I've met in the past 5 years and genuinely enjoyed playing with, compared to 10 or more years ago where people were more open to making friends.
Now people prefer sticking to their discord cliques of 5-30 different people and hop from server to server every month or two (which is ironically what people thought teamspeak and other similar programs were going to do to MMOs)
Based schizo sees something cute and instantly sexualizes it.
wow has been good at various stages, it's just they keep fucking it up with bad design decisions
ff14 is good before the endgame, they just need to give people more stuff to do at max level
eve is great but only appeals to certain people
osrs still has a strong following
pso2 feels pretty unique and has a moderate following
i'm sure there are others i can't think of
it's possible you just don't like mmos anymore if yu honestly can't enjoy any of those
I looked it up and it's from one of precure shows.
the concept of endgame is a plague upon mmos
>Oh boy, can't wait to finally have fun playing the game after wasting a month on grinding to max level and getting appropriate gear! Now I need to find people to play with who happen to have room for me!
>Wow, leveling up sure was fun! Now what do I get to do at max level? *game turns into complete shit*
we need more games with endless scaling and/or horizontal scaling
guild wars nailed the fuck out of this, and guild wars 2 also does to a lesser degree (fun as fuck exploration with gliding/mounts/jump quests salvage the fuck out of it, but character customization is a massive downgrade)
Private server for MH Frontier soon
>it's possible you just don't like mmos anymore if yu honestly can't enjoy any of those that are nothing like the classic mmos that you enjoyed
a lot of the classic mmos are still around too, either officially or on private servers
swg has a few pre-cu servers
i think everquest is still officially around
runescape classic (e.g. the REALLY old version) is around on private servers, i should know since i play one
anarchy online still exists somehow
i'm not super familiar with older mmos but they still exist, they're not as populated but if you get a few friends together there are still enough other people where you can have a good time
i miss /mmog/
MMOs are soulless as fuck now, both developer wise and community wise.
the most fun I've had with an mmo recently was playing a shitty one on roblox with a bunch of autistic randos where we all just screwed around
