Here's your Doom Eternal OST release bro
Why would they compress it that much just to turn it down anyway?
Seems counterproductive.
it's not compression, it's bad mixing
bottom of the barrel music studios use that """technique""" to produce music that is "louder" than it actually is
True, should have said limiter.
Still, if they were going to turn it down, they should have used the pre-limited mixes and started mastering again, then no-one would have noticed.
Then again, it might have been mixed that way, in which case there's nothing you can really do in terms of mastering besides turning the volume down.
Poor Mick held hostage by retarded audio engineers
Wonder if he's gonna leave as soon as he's done with the third nu-doom game, assuming such since id does want to make another one
Actually...
Ah damn. Good for him
I wonder if he already made the music for the DLC or we will see some hack do their best Mick Gordon impression for it
????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
I am BEYOND confused.
Where is the problem here?
Seriously, what the fuck???
Things like this are the EXACT reason why people give money to Bethesda, for them to fuck shit up.
Makes sense considering doom eternal's file size is so much smaller than doom 2016.
That is almost entirely on the lack of megatextures in eternal
Obviously but they seemed to wanted to optimize the file size.
he's a contractor user, he can do whatever he wants.
>Limiting your mixes like crazy for loudness purposes
>In 2020
Have these people never heard about volume settings?
Besides limiting like that will just cut off the attack of anything percussive, so the end result is actually less punchy.
what am i looking at here?
did they "equalize" the sound somehow?
They limited the Doom Eternal track, then decided to turn it down afterwards except that one portion, completely eliminating the point of Hard Limiting it in the first place (to make it louder)
What happened between id and him?
Are we that far gone in terms of sound quality that the Doom 2016 track pictured is considered acceptable just because the other track is worse?
IM ONLY INTERESTED IN ONE THING.
JUST 1.
Can i change the rainbow vomit of ammo when i chainsaw a demon?
I changed the menu HUD to red, and turned all the other hud elements OFF, but the RAINBOW VOMIT still persists.
CAN I DO SOMETHING WITH IT?
no but you could play with the infinite ammo cheat and don't use the chainsaw. Game's more fun like that anyway.
you can uninstall doom eternal and install painkiller where ammo pickups fit level design nicely while still being noticeable
OP posted why already
Thats a good point.
Thank you.
ANOTHER QUESTION, THEN:
If i want to get the gold skin for ultra nightmare, do i have to start the game in a new save slot, or can i just replay all the levels i finished already but up the difficulty setting?
You can turn down brightness of ammo loot in the options thats about it no idea why its color coded does anyone even pay attention to the colors?
awwww sheeeit, painkiller.
i forgot about this gem.
i think it was remastered.
nice.
You can't change to ultra nightmare. Start a new save. I assume you know about the 1 death mechanic. To cheese ultra nightmare, you just need to beat the first level and get to the first rune. Get the saving throw rune. Any time you "die" alt f4 out of the game. This will reload you to the nearest checkpoint. Exiting out of the game from the game menu will delete your save, and alt f4ing after you actually die will fuck up your save for some reason.
>no idea why its color coded does anyone even pay attention to the colors?
So you know what ammo you're picking up?
A game that fast it needs to be that colorful other wise you'll wasting time working out which ammo is which
be careful about Hell & Damnation edition, half of the original levels are DLC. it's often discounted as fuck so either wait or pirate. it's still worth playing because most of the levels have additional enemy types which improves variety
That doesn't actually matter since anytime you see the jolly rancher ammo, it's grouped up with all the other ammo types.
>So you know what ammo you're picking up?
what for?
all kinds of ammo drop out, and they all are being sucked in by the player at the same time.
thats exactly why Doom 2016 had ammo in a single colour.
because it made no fucking difference at all.
awww i can turn it down? well i guess better that than nothing.
thanks!
It's not a solid brick so you could push it further if we go by loudness war practices. Why go back to the mixing phase to make it louder when you can just slap a limiter on it.
>Mick makes music for game, its great.
>id/Bethesda outsource the OST mixing to someone who clearly doesn't know what they're doing, sullying his work and reputation as a result.
Between that and him not being fond of working on a single project too long, its perfectly understandable for him to want to move on.
