verify game file integrity, if that doesn't work try reinstalling steam and/or the game you're having issues with. it may be a problem particular to your game, check the steamcommunity forums for the game and see if it has issues.
i've never had this particular issue before but these sorts of issues are usually fixed with basic troubleshooting.
i only game on pc and handhelds and i have literally not played an fps game since tf2 went to shit
i primarily play mmos, strategy games, rpgs (all varieties), metroidvanias, and visual novels. i play other games from time to time too
