Even in DR2 Junko's AI was actually pissed off and disappointed that she was about to lose again. Despite being full of excitement having lost the first time in DR1 (because she had a contingency in place so she felt she could allow herself to experience this despair just this once).

I mean yes, dr3 despair was kinda good because it showed more of Izuru as a character (even though he was a lamp most of the time), plus chisa was fairly fleshed out if we think that she was developed in a span of 11 episodes.
Tbh they should've botched the future arc and made a 24 episode long despair arc, showing everything in detail, like how nanami became friends with the 77th class, how hajime gave in to the tentation of the Kamukura project and how the drama trio (ruruka, seiko and izayoi) were together. Also more dr0 since it was basically a cameo.
