I would have remade a better game.
slice of life materia fishing in mideel
>add Yuffie
Game instantly fixed
been way more subtle with the time janitor shit
Just remove time jannies/future sight shit and treat Sephiroth like he was in the original. Thats it.
Same exact thing but bigger Tifa.
but then how would get that dope ass fight with super mystery nigga, retard?
either drop all the padding bullshit and end part 1 after introducing sephiroth and fighting jenova on the boat, or replace the padding with new locations in the other upper plate sectors of midgar and end part 1 with a fight against rufus and the turks
Just handle it like Ocarina of Time 3D. Update the models and make the pre-rendered backgrounds into 3D, but accurate ones, add some quality of life changes, and don't go nuts with it.
Not change the story and only expand on it.
More development with the Avalanche group? That's good.
Changing the story by adding Sephiroth in early and jannies?
That's bad.
The same exact game 1:1 with MUH GRAPHIX but change the ending just enough to piss everyone off.
Just a remaster + voice-acting and re-orchestrated soundtrack. That's all it ever needed
They really dropped the ball with the ending.
If they wanted a decent final boss, just have Roche pilot the motorball. At least you maintain the dignity of the original End-Midgar sequence while having a perfectly justifiable final boss that makes sense. Since Roche is an actual 3rd Class SOLDIER, have him give a revelation about Cloud/Shinra that prompts him to tell his story in Kalm.
Make Jessie's parent's neighborhood a revisitable area.
- remove a lot of the excess padding or at least overhaul the way Midgar is handled so there's more to the surface visits, maybe make the sidequests less generic MMO and more Yakuza
- tune the dodge to either move further or at least have some semblance of i-frames, it's basically useless / alternatively replace it with a jump proper so that aerial combos are more manual rather than the awkward and stiff arcs
- i like the idea of the continuity and plot changing thanks to Sephiroth and Aerith knowing the future, they're pretty much already a virus and the voice of the planet in future installments. remove the time ghosts, and instead add hints involving aerith that things aren't quite lining up right, certain events not occurring correctly or so forth as far as she remembers.
- if square wants their big climactic Sephiroth fight, sure, but make it the result of Cloud going fucking ballistic and forcing everyone to let him have his 1v1 that he loses badly after Sephiroth-Jenova-body stops playing around, instead of shoving it into a fucking singularity timehole with a time ghost super monster; leave his timeline changing motives mostly vaguely implied instead of spelling them out, hence his sparing Cloud stands out more
- for the love of god invent a new sector 5 slums theme if you have to but stop playing the classic music like the world map theme at the most awkward of unfitting places
Up till under Junon, I would have cut and changed a things as well
>- for the love of god invent a new sector 5 slums theme if you have to but stop playing the classic music like the world map theme at the most awkward of unfitting places
This one really upset me, since the main theme is so intrinsically tied to the WORLD MAP, and not any specific zone.
> i like the idea of the continuity and plot changing thanks to Sephiroth and Aerith knowing the future.
Yeah the concept isn't really bad if it can be done right. I'm not sure of I would have Aerith know everything that happens though. Maybe more likeshe feels things have to go In a certain direction
Exactly the same but without the time ghosts bullshit.
All the other new shit they added is great. But the time ghosts stuff is fucking retarded.
>All the other new shit they added is great. But the time ghosts stuff is fucking retarded.
This.
Time jannies ruin the whole game for me. Laziest plot device I've ever seen in a modern game
>Make Yoshinori Kitase direct
>Split original game into a trilogy with two year gap between each release
>First game covers Midgar
>Second game covers everything until the Forgotten City
>Third game wraps everything up
>More stylized visuals (No sunlight in the slums, NPCs have distinct clothing instead of the modern urban wear Square likes to use in their games nowadays)
>Locations utilize the "what do they eat" principle
>Midgar is expanded on like the remake we got but with actually fleshing out the story instead of the padding we got in the remake
>Side quests are like Nier Automata's, fleshes out the setting and characters instead of simple boring fetch quests
>No Advent Children anime bullshit where Cloud and Tifa smashes entire buildings with their swords and fist, keep it grounded
>Don't overuse Sephiroth, have One Winged Angel only play during the final boss fight in the trilogy
>Scenes may not be 100% faithful to the original but instead aims to capture the purpose and tone of what was being conveyed
>Keep small details from the original (Rude hesitating to attack Tifa)
>Combat is turn based like in the original but refined and updated to fit modern standards and to age better
>More extra content to add replayability (hidden locations that can only be accessed with certain items or abilities, secret bosses, NG+)
>Third game is where you finally get access to the Highwind
>Highwind acts like a hub where you can witness characters interacting with each other and the dynamics of the party(like RDR2's camp)
>First game is a simple and straightforward story with hints of something more going on behind the scenes
>Second game is a adventure story where you explore the world and go on a journey
>Third game is a race against the clock where the party has to defeat all the weapons and stop Sephiroth as Meteor looms throughout
Literally everything they did except the fucking dementors and fate-shit. Would also make the relevant sections open-world, (even tho Midgar isn't open world in the OG either) make Cloud a tiny bit more expressive after the first few chapters, make the sidequests more poignant.
The game adds so extremely much to the characters, world and story in certain areas, it's a shame Nomura tries to fuck it up.
The combat system is amazing, the actors and script is also tight, the perfect blend of nostalgia, staying true to source and modernizing.
No Yuffie No Buy

This. I was on-board with absolutely everything else going on with the game.
Do yourself a favor and download SYW's textures.
ATB/Turn based RPG following the original plot with added side quests.

They did all of that
I would've remade Xenogears instead
Would've kept the steam/dieselpunk aesthetic for Midgar.
I would have made it an actual remake, and if forced to keep it in Midgar I would have padded it out by giving characters like Rufus more to do and creating subplots that actually flesh out the characters instead of simply injecting a dozen OC characters who won't do anything after part 1. I also wouldn't have stretched out 15 minute dungeons into five hour torture sessions.
Waking up in Sector 7 after the bombing mission without Barret's theme playing really sucked.
Oh you're expecting restraint from a literal manchild autist?
>They did all of that
They fucked up the first bombing mission and made Avalanche dindus. You're an imbecile.
Opinion on the changes?
Not playing it since it doesn't have the original Japanese text modded. Do these mods even work with the Japanese version in the SE store?
Differently
Except Avalanche didn’t know they were innocent and presumed themselves at fault but resolved to bomb more reactors anyways did you even play the fucking game cunt?
Don't know. But I just dropped in here to say y'all are dumb if you think that if we were ending at Midgar, the final boss of a AAA Final Fantasy JRPG would be the freaking highway robot.
A 1:1 remake with the graphics they have in it right now. It would have been on one disc.
I would have kept zack out. His 2 scenes were pointless and the 2nd cutscene especially. it was just randomly put in the middle of 2 scenes lol.
Its bad and cant be done right. Stop trying to justify this trash.
if anything it highlights just how blinded Barret is by revenge. everyone else has their doubts, but he just turns around and preaches like it was nothing. just because they didn't commit the damage personally doesn't remove his intentions and just how little he cares about more people dying because of it.
Doesn't matter. We the audience know they were innocent. It was a retarded retcon to further sanitize the plot. It also ruins the plot twist when Shinra drop Sector 7 since now we know they aren't above false flags.
