I don't think it's limited to just power creep. They've made things overly complex for the sake of making them overly complex. Basically circlejerking themselves over how "layered" and "in depth" they can make it. Not only are they tiny cards to begin with, but lines and lines and lines of tiny text to describe details that could be keyworded but aren't seems like an oversight.
What ever happened to just the good old days of normal summoning big baddies? Why can't that be enough? Or God forbid, monsters with different simple skills like MTG. Flying, trample, shadow, phasing, shroud. They've made the game un-fun when it gets to the point you need to take a course to play a simple child's card game.

Links came out and crippled mass summoning synchro decks, which is fine because unless your deck was made to break boards it was a huge problem, but links was a shitty way of doing it because it also did way worse to lesser decks that weren't hurting anyone like Lightsworns and shit. At least that's what it was like before I left 2 years ago.
