What happened this time?

I have never played a final fantasy game, and have laughed at the series from a safe distance since 13. Everyone was looking forward to this and then after like 2 days everyone shat on it and Nomura has ruined everything again. So what'd they do to fuck it up.

I play 5th gen games somewhat commonly, but FF7 is not on the list.

Sephiroth goes from not knowing who Cloud is to stalking him through mysterious homoerotic visions, via time travel. And the player doesn't learn who Sephiroth is really at all throughout the entire game. It's retarded.

It's like watching The Hobbit without having ever read the book, but instead of the movie adaption playing normally, Smaug appears from the very beginning molesting Bilbo and trying to mess up the story, and the Dementors from Harry Potter also make random appearances because they're trying to keep the story the same. And at the end the One Ring breaks, retconning LOTR. That's the FF7 Remake.

It follows the games events 99% of the time. But adds these story correcting ghosts that fix events that went wrong. Like defeating a person you were supposed to run from. Saving a person who should have died. Preventing a disaster from happened. Making sure a disaster does happen. Shutting people up and farrying them away from the group before they spill the beans far earlier than they should.

Besides that the events of the game are the same.
The additions of the ghosts on the other hand indicate that this is either another universe, Time travel fuckery, or a dream.
Because some characters know stuff they shouldn't at the current moment. Some people live when they shouldn't. and the whole ending of the game insinuates that the events post Midgar are going to play out drastically different.

Almost like the Noun Definition of the word Remake wasn't used. But the Verb Definition was.

>It follows the games events 99% of the time.
Stop parroting this. It's not remotely true.

It entirely is.
The only time it doesn't is the bike fight with Roche, surprise Seph mind fuckery, and any time the Plot ghosts show up. Which as much as everyone hates them. They don't consume the majority of the game. At absolute best they are 5% of the game. They show up. The group goes "WTF" and then the ghosts leave and everyone forgets they exist until the next the next time they show up again.

you'll hear that about literally any game that comes out on here.

You have literally never played the original then. It's completely different.

Pretty good analogy actually

3rd best selling exclusive PS4 game after God of War and Spiderman.

Sure as hell beats the shit out of Death Stranding.

They made a GOTY

I like it.
It is what it is and I had fun.

>It's like watching The Hobbi
Oh here we go again
Whats next
ITS LIKE MY STAR WARS XDDD

I haven't played it but my roommate is a dumb fuck who bought the collectors edition of part 1 of 3 of a fucking "remake". this game has more in common with final fantasy 15 than it does 7. it is basically final fantasy 16 with a coat of 7 on it. he argued with me that he's played the game and I haven't so I have no idea what I'm talking about, but everything I've seen when I've been around him playing it basically proves my point. "but it has ATB" what the fuck does ATB even mean when it's just another FFXV

>NO YOU CAN'T JUST USE COMPARISONS

>Sephiroth goes from not knowing who Cloud is to stalking him through mysterious homoerotic visions,
But on the original we know Cloud is part of the Sephiroth's clone army and his visions are just a result of his influence. Its not like the real Sephiroth is stalking him, he is trying to fuck his mind by proxy. The only difference is that this is happening earlier this time. The new focus on alternative timelines is indeed silly but opens the door to a new game instead of just following the old storyline

you sound like you need to be medicated

you nomura drones are unironically retarded

loud minority most people like 7 remake

Only Yas Forums thinks this game is anything but amazing.

Time travel?

I mean, I havent even played the original beyond a bunch of hours but reading the wiki explained what I needed. The problem is that the game forces you to know about the original and all the "expanded universe" crap to get a grasp of things,

Sephiroth doesn't time travel, stop making shit up so you can whine about something.

retarded shills.

it's at 8.0 DESPITE metacritic deleting negetaive reviews

8.0 for the most hyped remake of all time, for the most favored JRPG

It's a fucking blunder. The critic score couldn't even pass 9 despite all those 10/10s from it being a Sony exclusive.

Imagine if they remade Resident Evil but only the initial mansion visit is included and the guest house, return to the mansion, underground area and lab are all going to be released as later, full priced games. The start of the mansion is stretched out with massive amounts of padding in order to make it a full game. The remake reveals that Wesker is the villain in the very opening scene and even has him displaying superpowers because it's a remake, fuck it, you already know how it goes so there's no point in hiding it. Wesker also knows the future and is trying to change the past so he wins this time or some shit. When ever someone is supposed to die, they survive, but then a ghost shows up and kills them because it's a remake and they died in the original so they have to die here, even if it means a random ghost that exists to protect canon killing them hours after they should have died. Characters start talking about fate and defying destiny and near the end of the game the ghosts become a giant monster and you fight them so that the rest of the remake project can be free of the plot of the original and can go wherever it wants and kill whoever it wants. It is then revealed that there are alternate timelines and realities, including ones in which posthumous characters are still alive and will presumably cross over or otherwise interact with the main characters in future parts of the remake project.
This is the Final Fantasy VII remake.

Is Jenova Dreamweaver an actual clump of Jenova cells taking shape or an illusion created by her cell's influence from inside 49 - this is important!

no your roommate is right, combat is different and doesn't play like 15 at all

>I mean, I havent even played the original
it's all so tiresome

kys barry

If you never played it or any of the games. Why the fuck do you care?

and because it's a ps4 exclusive, retards defend it

It got nomura'd

Sephiroth isn't even fucking with him though. Cloud thinks he's chasing after Sephiroth - presumed dead for years - because he wants revenge. He's "chasing" Jenova using Sephiroth's guise and simply following his Reunion instinct. It isn't until the Temple of the Ancients that Sephiroth actually tries to (successfully) influence Cloud using the Jenova cells in his body.
The only time Sephiroth fucks with his head is after they defeat what's left of Jenova and take back the Black Materia, because it was necessary to weaken Cloud enough so he would have the ability to make him hand over the Black Materia again. Honestly the two don't have a very personal relationship at all, prior to or even after the Nibelhiem incident.
Meanwhile in FF7R Sephiroth's homolust is strong.

it doesn't play like 7 at all. it is closer to 15 than 7 fucking pretend it isn't. I'm sure you've also deluded yourself into thinking this is an actual remake of 7 instead of just a 7 themed game

This Sephiroth is the one fucking with the timeline so he knows somehow Cloud ends beating his ass. The point of all the time jannies bullshit is to bring the possibility of a future where Aerith doesnt die, or Sephiroth ends wiping the Earth

>opens the door to a new game instead of just following the old storyline
exactly how the fuck is this supposed to be a good thing?

>I'm sure you've also deluded yourself into thinking this is an actual remake of 7 instead of just a 7 themed game
They have.

Compare these. 10 minutes vs nearly an hour. They think this is a proper remake.

I've never seen Yas Forums so braindead and I've been here since the beginning.
