GBA/PSP/DS remakes where applicable, Steam versions for 3D games
>FFXV
What do you mean
I forgot there was a Windows version so that one.
To go a bit further, modded Steam versions.
Why?
GBA/DS for any that got ports.
FFVII on switch (maybe pc has same thing?) But you can turn up battle speed 3x and skip random encounters.
FFIII/FFXIII skip
FFX/FFXII the HD remasters
There's an HD compilation for crisis core on YouTube watch that.
Watch advent children.
This looks good
Which mods you recommend for 7?
FFVIII* skip
None. Don't play anything modded unless you've beaten it originally.
Reunion: forums.qhimm.com
SYW Upscaled Textures: forums.qhimm.com
Ninostyle models: nexusmods.com
After you install The Reunion and SYW, Make sure you grab the movie files in the SYW post. Once you do that, put the files in "steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII\The_Reunion\GLOBAL\Direct\movies"
As for the NinoStyle models, download the "Ninostyle models for direct folder" on the files page and follow the readme if you want the chibi models. Then, put the nino_direct folder in "FINAL FANTASY VII\The_Reunion\CUSTOM" and be sure to add the line "Mod_ID = nino_direct" under CUSTOM in Reunion's options.ini file. Feel free to tweak any other settings you want in that file. Just don't blame me if you break shit.
Cute boy on the left
>IV Super Famicom
Absolutely not, at least get the fan-translated Japanese version and not the watered down localised version but PSP is still preferable
>V super famicom
Get GBA translation
>VI Super Famicom
Get a fan-translation patch of the Japanese Version
Don’t skip XI
>XII PS2 original version
Zodiac version
C'mon user. We all know that Final Fantasy VII has aged like milk visually.
CRT filter and ANT. All you need.
>gba
>when the psx pal version of V/VI fixes the loading times
>reunion
BLEGH
I still like the look of VII just fine. Just play the current release on pc/switch if you're super anal about seeing psx graphics like a bitch.
1&2 - GBA or PSP (the PSP versions are based directly off the GBA versions)
3 - DS or PSP, really your choice of format; iOS version is the same but sloppy UI
4 - it's a toss-up between GBA content, DS remake and rebalancing, or PSP which comes with a makeover and After Years; iOS version is the DS remake with worse UI
5 - GBA for content, though a patched SFC version is fine
6 - the GBA version's sound issues aren't totally fixed even when patched, I recommend Ted Woolsey Uncensored for SNES version
7 - PS1 original, Switch is the best of the modern ports though
8 & 9 - PS1 versions, the ports are kind of bad
10 - PS2 version if you can, but the HD remasters are playable if faulty in artistic decisions
11 - PC obviously
12 - Zodiac Age, allegedly the Switch version has additional tweaks the other ports don't have but ultimately it makes the game vastly more playable thanks to speed-up and actually adds character diversity thanks to the Job System
13 - PC versions of the whole trilogy, if you don't mind their sheer size. Easy to 4K them.
14 - PC obviously.
15 - PC version if you've got the specs, it's kind of a bitchy game and had memory leaks last I checked but it's hands down the best version of the game still
Avoid the iOS versions where possible, they're often more crash-happy and the UI and performance issues as well as "creative liberties" with the art assets are just awful.
What's so bad about it? Works just fine for me.
GBA FF4 is a glitchy mess. PSP, DS, or bust.
What’s wrong with the Super Famicom version of IV?
>fan translations
What’s wrong with the original Japanese ones?
>GBA
Nah fuck that, portables kinda suck
>don’t skip XI
It’s an MMO so i didn’t count it
>Zodiac
Nah there’s a tacked on job system
the steam version of 9 has faster battles so you’re gonna want to play that version
Also adding onto this: there's nothing wrong with playing the NES/FC versions of 1 and 3 with a fan translation on the latter, as the simplicity lends itself a unique charm to these early games. The re-releases and remakes rebalance some things, like 1's magic system going from "limited casts between rests" to MP like later games. 4's SNES version isn't a terrible thing to stick with, but for god's sake at least get it fixed so it's not the censored and challenge-neutered version, Namingway Edition works fine for this alongside its QoL changes like B button dashing. The PS1 versions of 4 and 6 are "okay", though their loading times are atrocious to deal with, but the PS1 localization for 5 is plain garbage, avoid it like the plague.
>What’s wrong with the Super Famicom version of IV?
If you say ‘Super Famicom’ without context he is going to pick up the western NES version of 4
> What’s wrong with the original Japanese ones?
Doubt he can understand Japanese
> Nah fuck that, portables kinda suck
I said GBA translation, which is better than the fan-translation and which you can patch the game with
> Nah there’s a tacked on job system
Most people think the game is vastly better with it
>NES
Snes
>FF5 gba
>FF6 gba
Whats Wrong with the SNES?
>Avoid the iOS versions where possible, they're often more crash-happy and the UI and performance issues as well as "creative liberties" with the art assets are just awful.
The IOS version of tactics is good
SOULLESS
FFV comes with more jobs in GBA
FFVI has a abridged translation
I'm not knowledgeable in Tactics and was mostly listing the main games off, so eh.
Aaaaaah fuck this is so wrong.
