Some of them are good, some of them are bad. Just like with most things like this really.
If it was something like Digimon World, perhaps there could be an item that turned your Digimon into it's Antibody form. Or let you chose during the next life cycle if you want regular or X-Antibody Digimon to be available.

I forgot the exact reason why they have new forms, maybe just general mutation/evolution to better fit with the new environment the virus brought on. I'm not that deep into Digimon lore.

I think they should be treated as normal Digimon with the exception that their normal counterparts can side-evolve to them. But otherwise let them have their own stats and evolution trees and all that, kinda like the recolors.

Nah. The thing with the X-Antibody is that it's essentially a powerbooster that either empowers a mon, or eliminates/mitigates their weaknesses. If the should be a thing, then as a unique unlockable.

But if you do that then what do you do with the non-Ultimate X-Antibodies? Why bother upgrading, say, a child-level Digimon when you could just evolve it? Same problem Armor Digimon had in Cyber Sleuth, why bother when just evolving all the way to Ultimate nets you something stronger?

Simple. X-Antibody is a permanent upgrade, but it shouldn't be something that you can do with your mon JUST LIKE THAT. An X-Antibody should be rare as hell and obtainable after some crazy hijinks and grinding. And then, after like defeating simultaneously the Seven Demon Lords, The Olympos 12, The Royal Knights one by one with each group going at you with all of its members, then you get your X-Antibodies and decide which mon gets their.

Armor evolutions weren't necessarily bad in CS/HM, but I do agree they weren't ever to the point where they could be the end of your evolution chain for a mon, they had some decent skills to grab before you moved on though.

Biggest issue were the slow-as-fuck loading times. I would've tried to play it longer, but needing to wait 10-20 seconds just to go from screen to screen killed any interest I could've had.

I would like them to make it a mechanic in a world game. Like you go along with the normal game and story, but then the world is slowly being corroded by the X-virus (Progresses with story to eliminate a panic crunch time). That way you have to learn and practice getting better at being a tamer to get those X-valutions.

I'm not saying they are straight up bad designs, I just think the original designs are superior, even in the cases you mentioned. Also, I'd rather see them focusing on bringing more different lines to the games instead of making variations of already included Digimon.
