Niko killed more criminals than cops or civilians and was more of a mercenary working for the mafia rather than "lol the random rampage retard" like Trevor. You can be really pacifist in the first part of the game (working for roman as a cab driver, only use romans car, dont kill anyone outside missions, respect the law) but after that is just "criminal on criminal" murder and random rampages if you want

I'm gonna be honest with you guys and I might get shit for this but I loved the fuck out of GTA IV's "boat" cars.

The way your car was liable to drift around and skid imperfectly reminded me of 70's car chases. I felt it was much more dramatic and hectic than GTA V's turn-on-a-dime autos.

Not to mention, the ability to fucking SPIN your car in the air is fucking retarded. GTA IV just made it so that your car is very bottom heavy and isn't likely to land on its head.

And I just remembered that you barely ever hurl from through your windshield in GTA V like you frequently do in GTA IV.

GTA V is just so fucking safe.

For a "relatable" character, Niko meshed pretty well with the GTA play style: a disturbed man who could plausibly snap at any moment. It made more sense than Franklin & Michael, and was more interesting than incorrigible nuts like Trevor & Tommy.

Yeah I liked how Gta 4 tried to show that Niko didn't want to be criminal. The first missions is just driving taxi, then you get to beat up some guys, then some car theft. Do you even have to kill anyone before Vlad?

Niko used to take part in human trafficking and also fought in some war. He already was a criminal.

Niko is one of the best protags in all of gaming.
