Life sucks for me now
you only say that because you were a kid when you were in that time. Your memories of that time are filled with the freedom and wonder of being a child.
>you only say that because you were a kid when you were in that time
Shut the fuck up dunce.
I say it because it's true, take your psychoanalysis and shove it up your cunt.
What if you experience things from that time period in, let's say, 2010-2020, and still love it?
Then there's no attachment to your child memories (I'm from 87).
>What if you experience things from that time period in, let's say, 2010-2020, and still love it?
doesn't really make it better or worse than any other decade of time
there's a reason you will never remember a time like that specific time period
no one in the 2000
>Everyone is VALID, everything is EQUAL, nothing and no one is better than anything or anyone!
God you're pathetic
people's best memories will always be from their childhood. It's the basis of nostalgia. OP is talking from his asshole.
>people's best memories will always be from their childhood
Wrong. Fucking dunce.
No, movies picked at '60-'80
backed by science.
dilate, trantoid.
For vydia? So you think there wasn't a sweet spot where tecnonology was not too expensive that only projects endorsed by multi million dolar investors were aproved, and developers could be more daring? You think it was all just a big coincidence that the most creative games, or the games that created entire genres, come mostly from this very specific time period?
I'm sorry but your analysis is shallow as fuck.

THERES THIS GIRL THATS BEEN ON MY MIND
People 10 years older than you think 1985-1995 was the best time and that 1995-2005 was pussy shit.
Science is pseud wankery and a complete con, fuck you brainlet.

Are you saying kids born nowadays will look back on Fortnite in 20 years and say it was peak vidya?
Surely not. Games have definitely gotten worse.
Check this 3
will it ever go back?

>even have brief flashes of memories from 96-98
Smoke less weed maybe? I still remember the look on my dad's face when I got off school on 9/11 and how shocked he was that they hid it from the children. I still remember when the Conan O Brien bit "In the Year 2000" kept going in the year 2000 and how I thought to myself "this joke doesn't work anymore but that's also why it's still funny". I still remember my mom letting me make a pre-order on Wind Waker so I could get the Master Quest version of OoT on GameCube, and how hype I was since I was a PSX kid. I still remember the fucking day The Ultimate Showdown flash animation was uploaded to Newgrounds and how we all thought it was the greatest shit ever. I still remember when Cartoon Network would wait until 11:00 to play Yu Yu Hakusho, because it had too many curse words, but they evenrually brough it to daytime Toonami anyway. I still remember when X-play gave MGS3 a 4/5 and how the forums exploded because the game clearly deserved a 5. I still remember how Resident Evil 4 came out and changed the entire industry overnight. Hell, I still remember Bush V. Kerry and my dad bitching that the democrats could never win if they kept pushing ineffectual soft-spoken pussy candidates. Then in 2006, I found Yas Forums, all downhill from there.
You're only one year younger than me. How the FUCK can you not remember at the very least 2000-2005.
Hes not wrong. Things get perpetually shittier as the years go by not just in media but overall. Theres more great media back then compared to now.
no
>Are you saying kids born nowadays will look back on Fortnite in 20 years and say it was peak vidya?
Yes, they will. People used to hate on late 00s-early 10s stuff like Fanboy and Chum Chum, iCarly, and Johnny Test, but now you see older zoomers having nostalgia for those.
>can still remember Mike Myers and Kanye West's George Bush doesn't care about black people

I-I'm still cool right?
'member all the Yas Forums threads about how video games were represented by classic art and, by year, each painting had a little bit cut out of it for "Pre-order DLC" and "Regular DLC"?
I-Carly was unironically good, that goes for Chowder and the first 3 seasons of adventure time
wrong, the internet changed everything
>coworker always watching video game reviews and retrospectives while he works
>he's watching a review of Quake one day
>he's astounded that I even know what it is
I feel old.
The perfect world was a dream that your primitive cerebrum kept trying to wake up from. Which is why the Matrix was redesigned to [1999]: the peak of your civilization.
yes. around that time it seemed like technology was progressing and being used to improve gameplay. after that more focus was just put on graphics, cutscenes, how to sell more shitty DLC and microtransactions, etc.
i think the only way that era can be topped is if virtual reality improves enough. i hope that the best games from 95-2005 can all eventually be played in VR and make you feel like you're really in them.
>the internet didn't exist in 95-05
Yeah sure. If you remember the pre-2005 world well, then you're soulful. But if you only remember post-2005, you're soulless.
>I am a zoomer
The internet was a vastly different organism pre 2005.
>Are you saying kids born nowadays will look back on Fortnite in 20 years and say it was peak vidya?
yes, that's how nostalgia works. Why do you think there are "nostalgic minecraft music" videos on youtube?
So what you're saying is every moment is the best moment in history as long as you're a kid and every moment is the worst moment in history as long as you're an adult, excluding things like being born on the losing side during a major war, obviously. Did I get that right?
SMARTPHONES ruined everything. The internet was fine until every normie found their way online
social media didn't exist
the vast majority of the world didn't have internet
if only they knew just how right they were
it was bound to happen eventually, the platform normalfags ended up using doesn't really matter.
>The internet was a vastly different organism pre 2005.
how did the "changing" of the internet do anything other than enhance and bloat the culture that existed pre 2005? The internet is constantly changing in different ways.
Nobody in the 2000's praised the 90's culture for being superior, only the people who graduated highschool in 2006 who realized that they're getting old
So, what happened to the 1985-1995 nostalgia threads on here? Are there any oldfags here old enough to remember the Neon Era, or did they all die? Now it's just nostalgia for the Y2K Chrome Pokemon Era (1995-2005).
>Nobody in the 2000's praised the 90's culture for being superior
Because nobody was obsessed with nostalgia, BECAUSE the future seemed bright and they were optimistic. Nostalgia is a plague that happens when you have nothing positive to look forward to, only the past.
The ultimate Golden Age was 1966-2004. This was the greatest period in human history (although 9/11 did weaken a few areas, but the early 2000s was still kino all around). Shitworld started around 2004/2005, and got worse in 2007.
I dunno, it doesn't seem that uncommon for younger kids to play classics from that era and love them.
Your argument would only make sense if things never changed, but a lot really did change after sixth gen that made things worse. I remember even thinking a couple years into seventh gen that things were getting worse, and starting to look for more games from sixth gen again. Saying it's just nostalgia is shielding shitty business practices that became more prevalent.
I think you mean -2004.
2005 is when the everything in the universe collectively turned to shit. And I say this as a Gen X'er.
It wouldn't be so bad if smartphones had more functionality. You see so many shitty threads being started by phoneposters who only take screenshots from Twitter, YouTube, etc. They don't make original content and they can't fathom doing anything outside of going to just a few of the biggest social media sites.
early youtube seemed so good. I remember waiting 10 minutes for a 3 minute video to load
youtube.com
Web 2.0 was already the start of the Internet turning to shit. The Web 1.0/Newgrounds era before 2005 was better.
