It's the same in most media: because we're so over-saturated in content the only way to produce something that is recognised is to go back to do something that already has name recognition and a foothold on the market.

There'll only be more sequels, remakes and 'reimaginings' from here on out.

Yes, video games are the new Hollywood. Most of the new big releases are complete trash that are only chasing the latest popular trend. They have to rely on remaking things that were created by people that were actually inspired and wanted to make good & innovative games.

Indie games are what you want to look at for new things nowadays. With AAA games being so expensive to make nowadays developers have gone the way of the movie and started being safe no matter what as a necessity to keep shareholders happy. Sequels, remakes and reboots are the way to stay safe since there will always be a consumerbase even if you make dogshit.

Remakes kill new ideas and development. The idiotic sheep chose this future for themselves so let them have it. I have enough good quality games to last my lifetime.
