I prefer the FREEDOM platform, the one that gives its primal 750hz scream when you first turn it on to tell you that deep down, it is still the same platform it was in 1981 (unless you're a faggot that don't connect the PC Speaker), and that is still capable of running ANY software, not only the handpicked shit that was chosen for you.

The thread isn't asking for consistency, it's about the times they've fucked up which they absolutely have. I'll give you PS1 and PS2 (which was helped by it being a cheap DVD player too) but the PS3 was one of their biggest blunders which took them until the end of its cycle to really recover from.
