I'd play a Zelda game with Toriyama character designs
you literally just posted a character who appears in one. aside from Link's Awakening, I can also recommend the Wonder Boy games
Kirby games? But I know what you mean.
Zelda games are hardly low stakes, and the land isn't really all that strange. I personally also don't care for the disproportionate gameplay:story ratio but that's subjective.
I don't know... it's weird.
People buy games that resemble Earth, but games on distant planets sell terribly.
I think you're just discounting indie games as a whole. This isn't exactly what you're looking for but maybe you'd be interested
Play Ittle Dew
I mean weird. Like no one knows why this happens...! No one!
average people have average imagination. they need to contextualize their power fantasies to familiar settings
That's too avant-garde to fit the description
People prefer the empty power level wankery of Z and Super over the sublime spirit of the original Dragon Ball, the audience just isn't there
what you mean like minecraft?
Play outward fag. Its good.
Dark souls ironically.
It's why the NPCs always have time to talk
Why is link kuririn?
>nose
Just finished Z and I really wish it had been as interesting as the original Dragon Ball. Nothing new happens - it's all just the same dudes getting beat up then doing some pumped-up version of the last attack that fail. But I still liked it.
Minecraft is a re-purposed tech demo
Most fans these days agree DB is superior in terms of art and storytelling. Only the most hardcore of powerlevel fags (twelve year olds) will prefer Z or Super.
Z is really only good for character designs and video game adaptations for fighters
>and the land isn't really all that strange
Link's Awakening is meant to be Twin Peaks.
Man I grew up watching Z and then went back and watched Dragonball as an adult and was blown away with how much more comfy and fun it was. Power levels were a mistake
Some Atelier games kinda fit that bill, particularly the Dusk games.
Literally 0 comfy
I know this is bait but i have to say you're wrong
Firelink Shrine is as comfy as it gets
Yeah that's why Pikmin sells gangbusters... Oh wait.
Literally stopped reading when they reached Namek.
Even as a kid I knew Z was trash.
what game is this? It looks qt
Jade Cocoon?
STALKER!
Either that or your autistic requirements are too narrow.
What is Yume Nikki if not exactly what you just described?
Unironically Minecraft
The trip to Namek and most of Namek itself was the most Dragonball-esque part of Z. Shit starts getting cuhrayzee during the Frieza fight and beyond, but all the planet hopping and Dragonball hunting prior is straight up Dragonball style adventure. Even the fights against Frieza's henchmen were pretty good.
Toriyama's style is peak soul. Chrono Trigger benefited greatly from it.
