I've never been a fan of thse kind of games then I played FF7R and realised it was pretty fucking based and then decided to get NieR and realised I had been missing out so much.
What does Yas Forums think of NieR: Automata and what other games like this should I play next?
Without sounding like a retard, I thought they were JRPGs, if not what's the difference?
Yeah just games that are similar to FF7R and NieR, was thinking about playing the latest FF game
Kayden Perry
Well, if its JRPGs that you’re looking for, there’s plenty of good ones out there. There’s Ys, the Tales of games, Kingdom Hearts once you look past the Disney stuff, the Souls games, TWEWY if you have a DS, etc... If you can, tell me about what you liked about these two games in particular.
Charles Sanders
Consider some of the more modern JRPGs, you might like Persona 5 for example, even if it's much more anime. Do you have a Switch?
Nicholas Morgan
God hand, devil may cry, bayonetta, drakengard 3, metal gear rising, gravity rush. Im guessing you mean awesome weeb games? These are some of my favorites.
Matthew Evans
Did you play the first Nier?
Ryder Cox
I don't think I would like the turn based games, I enjoyed the open combat aspect of both games but having a party to switch between in FF7R, I enjoyed the kinda fantasy/cyberpunk story of both games alongside the combat and characters! The music was also really good and helped me get into the long boss battles if that helps..
I have heard of the Tales games but never played them, heard of kingdom hearts too but it seems a lot more complicated than I ever imagined
Nathaniel Harris
>What does Yas Forums think of NieR: Automata It is unironically one of the most beautiful, engaging and important games ever created. An experience one needs to play in order to ever get it. The whole package is simply amazing.
>and what other games like this should I play next? The original NieR + Drakengards, obviously. They're literally part of the same series. If you're lazy, wait for the Replicant's remake.
I looked into P54 but it was the social sim/anime that put me off it desu, I have a Switch and loved BOTW.... I plan on getting XCDE then playing XC2 but is there any other games I should play?
Ethan Wilson
DMC looks really good desu, where should I start?
Before playing these games I wouldbrand them as weeb shit but I am actually really liking the games and ended up watching the cowboy bebop anime for some reason
Juan Sanchez
Yeah I was gonna recommend Xenoblade. You might also like FFXV.
Nicholas Bennett
Not yet... is the new remake coming the first Nier?
Aiden Morris
Yeah, that’s what I figured you meant. Tales of games are more fantasy-based and they allow you to switch between party members in order to change up the gameplay. Vesperia, Abyss, and Symphonia are usually the best places to start. And yeah, KH is kind of a convoluted mess but the characters and interactions are fun and the gameplay is generally incredibly solid as well, with KH1 and KH2 being my favorites in that regard. Also, I recommend checking out the games in as well.
Cameron Martin
>I don't think I would like the turn based games Not him, but I think you haven't given them a proper chance, AND put too much emphasis on combat alone. I would suggest giving the (vanilla) Persona 5 a go. If that bombastic gem does not change your mind, nothing will. Certainly one of the top-3 games of the 2017, along with the Nier:A and BotW.
Yes. But the PS3/360 version is really good too if you can get your hands on a copy.
Grayson Lewis
>is the new remake coming the first Nier? Yes. It's very original, Japanese version at that. They changed quite a lot in the western version (AKA "Gestalt"), including but not limited to the MC and his age + role.
Luis Reed
Damn I never knew it was that good, I really loved it and would easily put it in the top 10 games I have played.
>If you're lazy, wait for the Replicant's remake. Is the replicant remake the first game?
Xavier Watson
Start with DMC 1 and work your way up from there. Ignore 2 since it’s pretty much a mistake in almost every there. If you want, you can check out the reboot as well, but keep in mind that it’s pretty damn controversial among the fanbase for a reason and to get the definitive version instead of the original.
Jace White
If you actually like those trash games you'd probably like FFXV unironically.
Like you have shitty taste, but you'd like FFXV, and that's what you want to know.
Brandon Reed
OP here - why does desu keep getting added to my posts?
David Cook
if by the latest final fantasy you mean FFXV, you should know that game has a lot of problems, but I had a good time with it. You’d probably like it if you liked Nier: A and FFXV.
Also Nier: Replicant (the original Nier game) is getting a remaster.
And you might like Kingdom Hearts games as well.
Angel Sanchez
You sound like someone who certainly loves vidya.
Robert Lewis
>Is the replicant remake the first game? Yes, its OG Japanese version. "Gestalt" was the Western localization. They're essentially the same game, but the main character and thus a lot of the script was changed.
Play dmc 1,3,4, and 5. For anime watch elfen lied, future diary, or black lagoon. Embrace the weeb side of the force, you know it in your heart to be the right path. Muhahaha!
Nolan Roberts
Yeah Xenoblade is on my list but I wanted to play the first game first before the 2nd, is FFXV the latest one?
Colton Campbell
Because you are an underaged nu-fag who should at least lurk moar before acting tuff.
Brody Lee
It’s a filter for t b h. Don’t pay too much mind to it.
Cameron Lopez
lurk moar
Caleb Ross
>DMC looks really good desu, where should I start? The first one? DUH??
It is but from what I'm reading the version they'll remake is the Jap version.
I'll just explain very simply about why this is important. When they made NIER they changed the MC for the west release. Jap had the MC be a young teenager while west had a burly guy in his 40-50s. The basic story doesn't change between them, the little details in-between do like how there's a girl that's family to the MC. In jap you're her brother, in west you're her father.
Easton Moore
Having just checked the definiton of a JRPG, I was way off... I just thought JRPG was more based or made in Japan and not the fact it's turnbased so yeh Action rpg is what I am looking for!
I will look into those tales games, isn't there a new one coming out soon? I think I remember seeing it at E3
KH, I will look into the All-in-one collection as well as DMC I think that looks quite cool too and maybe the next bayonetta whenever it comes to Switch
James Diaz
Did you play it all or just got ending A and called it a day?
Kayden Ortiz
>automata lures newfags into the Taro cult >they're forced to play all the garbage games he made without Platinum's help and they have to pretend they like them to fit in with another Taro cultists Can't say I feel any pity for those lost souls, they were retarded enough to fall for automata meme after all
Tyler Walker
>is FFXV the latest one? Yes, but I wouldn't really recommend it, unless you REALLY love doing anything BUT the main story quests in your open-world vidya.
If you wanna play it safe, play the ORIGINAL FF7 and 9. Those, along with the 16-bit classics like 4 and 6, are easily the fan-favorites and some of the best games in the genre. 10 is quite nice as well, but already a small departure from the norm. FF Type 0 HD is more action-oriented, and definitely something I recommend to both old-time fans and fans of Niers.
Still, in general, when it comes to FF, it's a legit "choose your poison" situation. All the games play more or less different, so there's fans and haters for each and every one of them.
I 100% haven't given it a chance, I have only watched gameplay and from what I read online about it... for some reason persona gets a lot of hate? It was just more the anime style and social sim that put me off but if you are sure I will enjoy it then I will give it a go, what's the difference between P5 and P5R? Well Nier:A and BotW are 2 of my favourite games so I will give P5 a chance... I am trying new things during this quarantine
Oliver Jones
>all the garbage games Taro's not made a single garbage game, mate. t: Automata secondary who hunted down and played ALL his previous games back in 2018, and loved it.
Luis Jackson
I have a 360 so might look into getting it then.. Unless you can play it on PC?
Evan Carter
>JRPG just means hack and slash with some leveling now I guess you should play Yakuza 0 then, that's a great "JRPG"
Connor Martin
Sounds good, I will probably wait for Replicant then too if it's anything like NieR:A I am hyped
Christopher Miller
Try to check ebay then, last I checked shit was kind of expensive though.
Jackson Hill
Not op, but i was gonna wait for the remaster of nier. So is it a remake instead? I was gonna buy a ps3 copy of the us version last year but didn't because i figured it would get a remaster. So would getting old nier not be a waste of money if i also want to get nu nier?
Carter Powell
Yakuza 0 is a great rec, knock yourself out OP.
Robert Sanchez
I've literally just now played Drakengard 3 on an emulator to see if maybe I was wrong about the PS2 games and Nier 1. Unbelievable trash, musou tier gameplay, but without the musou tier variety. 5/10 would be generous for this trash. I've enjoyed Golden Axe: Beast Rider far more than Drakengard 3
William Jones
Will do user, thanks for the suggestion
Yeah FFXV was on my list, I think I will check it out.
Problems in what way? Yeah someone said about Replicant and I am interested it now KH has been added to my list
Ah okay sounds good then, why did they change everything?
Dominic Rivera
If you have a PS3 I would recommend playing Drakengard 1 and 3 then wait for the remaster of Nier.
>for some reason persona gets a lot of hate? ...it does? Where? It's one of the most beloved series, and been part of this site's identity well over a decade now.
>it was just more the anime style and social sim that put me off If you already stomached the FF7-demake and Nier:A, you are already a "total animu-lovin' weeb lol!" according to who ever the hell shitposts such things. P5 especially is very cozy and thought provoking if you ask me. Gameplay's fluid and fun, and it's all coated in this STYLISH AF soundtrack and visual design.
>what's the difference between P5 and P5R? The latter is part of Atlus' now tradition of re-releasing their previous game with new content tacked on. It's technically a standalone DLC pack, being sold for 60 bucks (or more). From their previous track record, I would highly recommend playing the ORIGINAL version first. It's MUCH cheaper too, and you get over 80% of the same game anyway.
>Well Nier:A and BotW are 2 of my favourite games I like you. I bet you might like P5 as well. A lot. Test out Death Stranding while at it. It's my latest crush.
JRPG actually is an RPG made with Japan's anime aesthetic or atmosphere in mind, you weren't that far off.
Its the sub-genres you're actually talking about. JRPG has both turn-based and action-based games in it.
DMC is not a JRPG but a full blown character action game. Its more based on its gameplay and you beating stages than stats and equipment. That said, everything about DMC is 10/10, everybody should play it.
Bayonetta is also character action and the director for it is actually the guy who directed the 1st DMC game back in 2001. Worth a look for sure.
Blake Clark
It is neither a remake nor a remaster. It's the original game with more voiceovers and a remixed soundtrack.
Ayden Bennett
Please don't recommend trash to people. Drakengard is trash and nobody should ever play it.
Xavier Jackson
FF7R and XV play nothing alike really. If anything XV plays a bit more like a normal action game and doesn't require much in the way of tactics. It's comfy though if you're okay with that.
Bentley Clark
Well if you got a backwards compatible PS3, ya just slap the disc in I guess. Anyone else might wanna use PS2, or the PCSX2.
I will do user thanks for the genuine advice, I am looking to embrace the inne weeb but don't want to dive into the hardcore anime shows yet but I will add those to my list
huh?
why though? nufag here
nufag here :(
okay will do
why did they change it? different audience
No I replayed for a few endings before stumbling on the fact there are 26!!! How many out of the 26 are worth doing?
Yeah people are saying FFXV has a lot of problems with the game, is this what you mean? I only found out that none of the games were even connected
nufag question... what does t. mean
Gabriel Stewart
Fuck, you got me excited there user!
Hudson Rodriguez
not that user but yoko taro games have been shit gameplay wise for awhile so you really have to love the story and music and shit to stomach them. Automata was the first one with halfway decent combat.
Austin Rivera
The taro chad has spoken!
Robert Thompson
>why though? nufag here Because it's cancerous Ieddit speech. And yes, we CAN tell yer new.
>How many out of the 26 are worth doing? E is the REAL ending. You get it by playing A, B, C and D. If you have not gotten E, you have NOT finished the game. Y is also pretty boss.
>nufag question... what does t. mean "Terveisin:"
John Parker
that's a big collection
Leo Watson
And more content, most likely the actual end of the game. And probably gameplay improvements and obvious graphical ones.
Jordan Thomas
>yoko taro games have been shit gameplay wise Nope, their gameplay just LITERALLY harnesses and represent the absolute madness and agony the games' plot and cast goes through.
