it had to compete with the PS2

>miniDVD
>no GTA
>can't play movies
>no online service

Gamecube was a lot of fun.

It's for sure held up as the stronger retro console, but during its time PS2 had a huge library, which was a big selling point for a lot of folks.

miniDVD

Nothing, I liked it and don't care if PS2 was better.

this

but also, it had to have the game boy player as an integral part of it with a good matching controller, not just an addon

fippi bippi
gamecube had great first party titles but nothing could compare with the ps2 library

too ahead of it's time

Nothing really, still was a strong console with a great library
It's just what said

>What went wrong
>When it's home to Melee, one of the best games of all time
Kill yourself Snoy.

My melee machine is perfect, thank you very much

This. A couple other hurdles too:
>no dvd player (that was a huge upside to the ps2)
>seen as kiddie
>support dropped after twilight princess

>can’t play movies
factually wrong, you play pic related with the game boy player
>no online service
Many gcn games supported online

no dvd player
wasn’t a PS2
looked like a child’s lunch box

Nothing, better than the Shitstation that's for sure

you couldn't play gba video on the gb player

>watching FMV meant for a GBA screen on a 20 inch TV
don’t do this it’s horrible

>nothing worth playing aside from Nintendo games
>shit controller with shit button placement
>shit output unless you buy absurdly expensive component cable
Eternal darkness is cool though

It had to compete against the PS2 and it was a succesor for the N64, the console that ruined Nintendo image forever

>Many gcn games supported online
There was 3 and two of those were PSO you uninformed fuck

What are these random numbers

Most of Yas Forums wasnt born when this was released

the games actual scores

The market for normalfags who watch movies is way higher than the market for people who like videogames.

Cube has the most satisfying "experience" of any console. Rock solid build, clicky power button, disc ejector (why didnt any other console do this?) "gate" stick allows you to absolutely nail the 8 directions. Just a real nice session from disc to game.

>game journo soibois love nintendo
in other news grass is green and water is wet

# of 100/100 scores they got

This, which is why the PS2 sold so much less than stand alone DVD players but sold very well as a PS2.

All those games are meme garbage, try and play those so called masterpieces only halo 2 is a masterpiece the rest are fine to down right mediocre.

Shut up you underaged fag

>disc ejector (why didnt any other console do this?)
disc trays, but the ps2 slim didn't have it, dunno why

>stick allows you to absolutely nail the 8 directions
Just a shame about the other 352 of them.

My biggest issue with the Gamecube when it was out was the droughts it would have. Sure, multiplats were a thing but generally the GCN versions were not great with a few exceptions (Sega was the only other one that was reliable during that time for gamecube support, along with Capcom). There would be months and months with nothing while the PS2 kept getting a ton of major releases and a variety of titles, with Xbox getting many times the best multiplat versions and ports of PC games the other two consoles could not handle.
