I would really like this to happen since VR is great and backing from Nintendo would push it forward even with a low end model, but I don't expect it. All of Nintendo's gimmicks have been safe enough that they could fall back on traditional game design if it didn't take. At least at the moment, exploiting the strengths of VR require a fundamentally different design approach making it a bigger risk. I will expect this to happen once some other company loses money to get enough people get past the initial motion sickness phase to the point of being able to play a regular 3D Mario game.

I honestly can't think of where they could go from what they have with the Switch right now. It's the best of both worlds, you can play it portable as a handheld or as a traditional console. My best guess would to keep with this handheld/console mix and maybe through foldable LCD screen technology you could either keep one big screen or fold it out into two screens and play games through touch like you could with the Nintendo DS/3DS, this would open up the library for even more games and possibilities, or even use this folded out screen as one big screen or have games that require the folding to interact with some kind of mechanic in a game. The technology still has a ways to go though, the screens are very fragile and can end up getting scratches from something like pressing your fingernail too hard into the screen.
With Nintendo it's hard to tell. I'll make my prediction for the PS6 and the next Xbox though. They're going to be dedicated consoles that are pretty much just watered down PCs.

The controller will be a sex robot. Movement will be controlled grabbing and maneuvering either the boobs, ass, or legs. Actions will be controlled by thrusting. So to play Super Mario World, you would grab the robots right boob and tilt it slightly right while thrusting would control jumping.
