No; it plays nothing like a Megaten game and it's pretty much an idol simulator with some turn based battles here and there.

It's not for everyone although it does some things right, I thought I'd be able to ignore the idol shit but couldn't actually stomach finishing it. The connection to Megaten and FE is thin as best and the whole thing felt kind of cheap, even down to the font everything is written in.

Despite the name, it really is more like Persona with Fire Emblem characters as Personas than anything SMT. It's fine if you go in not expecting anything SMT.

The only people hyping it are console war shitposters because it's a WiiU / Switch exclusive, in the same way said shitposters hyped trash like The Order 1886.
The game itself was universally reviled by Megaten fans, Fire Emblem fans, idol fans and JRPG fans.
