Holy shit I'm 35 hours in and I just can't play anymore. It's such a boring fucking game. >Boring dungeon designs; many dungeon designs are repeated >Characters are largely uninteresting >The combat is a tedious waiting game to build up enough BP to do anything meaningful >The break system relies on the above >The levelling is an absolute chore because of the ramp up time >Bosses have a nasty habit of hitting low hp, and then using some bullshit curve ball technique >The best way to get equipment is to steal from high level NPCs, even at a 3% chance, it's often worth it even if you have to pay bounties
Seriously, who is this game for? It's fucking bad. I'm so disappointed about my time with the game.
>who's is this game for Die hard jrpg shitters If you don't like it just leave it and play something else instead of torturing yourself
Ryan Rivera
>If you don't like it just leave it and play something else instead of torturing yourself I mean, that's the plan. I just don't see how this is even for JRPG shitters. Each job has like 10 abilities, very shallow, the JRPG aspects are profoundly weak. It feels like they just whacked a bunch of RPG maker games together. Fuck me. I just can't figure out the audience for this.
Ryan Gomez
octopath is god-awful. it only got hyped because it was a nintendo timed exclusive that came out during a game drought. play live a live or saga frontier if you want the octopath experience done right.
>or saga frontier if you want the octopath experience done right. >no character has a meaningful story, most routes are barebones and as usual side characters are non entities
Cameron Cooper
A glib facsimile of a real JRPG from the golden years
Kevin Martinez
The game has no appeal past the first few hours, it's a fucking slog
Christopher Mitchell
Its for nostalgiafags who haven't played a JRPG since the SNES era. The graphics make people cream because "its so oldschool".
The game is incredibly shallow and even compared to the games that its trying to ape, it does it worse. Trials of Mana is a game that has 6 different main characters but they actually interact with one another during the main story and the character building options is more varied in that game since you can't make everyone do everything and have every option at all times. Character building is an absolute joke in Octopath.
Jaxson Hall
No, it was hyped up because of its graphics and graphics alone. The game has almost nothing else going for it but people will still insist that its a great throwback despite being worse than the games in the era its throwing back to.
John Carter
I dropped it after 20 hours, it's just way too damn boring. It was supposedly made for old school jrpg fans but is absolutely shallow compared to them. Play an actual old school jrpg if you want that experience
Andrew Sanders
>Nintendo fags praise exclusive game to the high heavens >it gets ported to other systems >people find it to be an okay/flawed game
Happens everytime. Why is this so common?
Ethan Phillips
Why the fuck would you play the game for 35 hours when it was boring you? Retarded faggot.
Gabriel Baker
The only game i bought on the switch that i legit regret, what a waste
and i love Bravely Default and Second but BD2 looks, feels and plays like absolute ASS
Alexander Kelly
I started completing their stories, and realised all you get is a fucking FIN screen. There's no pay off for this shit.
I'm glad I pirated it on PC.
Colton Evans
>Who is this game even for? Me I liked the combat and job system a lot. It's not the most perfect game but it's certainly immortalized in my mind because of how fun the advanced job bosses were. Music was pretty good too.
>>no character has a meaningful story, most routes are barebones and as usual side characters are non entities Is Saga Frontier really that bad?
Jace Morgan
It was fun to collect all secondary job abilities, but past that game just becomes painfully boring slogfest. Story missions are bland as fuck and always follow the same pattern: visit town, speak to some npc, use your chars shitty path action, crawl through one of 4 dungeon variations, defeat boss that sometimes have nothing to do with chars story and just here so you can have your mandatory boss fight, repeat this 32 times.
Charles Phillips
>>no character has a meaningful story, most routes are barebones and as usual side characters are non entities All of this is wrong.
Noah Anderson
how so?
Hudson Taylor
Yeah it's pretty bad. Did you get to the final area/boss? One of the worst things I've seen in a JRPG.
Blake Clark
Oh I don't know, maybe go play the fucking game before saying bullshit like the MCs having no meaningful stories or side characters being non entities when Gen alone is a major player in two main scenarios and needed to get to an entire region in the first place.
Caleb Thompson
Nah, I got to the final chapter for Alfyn, Primrose, Olberic, the whitemage woman, and Therion, beat Alfyn's one and got the cringe fin screen and stopped.
