Honestly, all they need to do is just make a good roster and base it off the second crossover, just done right.

I want to see non-Sonic Sega characters in more places so a Sega vs Capcom game would get me hyped. My top 3 characters to appear on Sega's side would be either Beat or Gum (Jet Set Radio), Prince Ali (Beyond Oasis), and Kiryu (Yakuza)

Metroidvania with the playable cast being from a variety of Capcom and Konami's action games, with Mega Man and Richter as the frontrunners. Chun-Li, Dante, Leon, Morrigan, Snake, McDohl, Bill Rizer, Heather Mason, among others. You bring three characters with you at a time, each with unique traits for fighting and navigating the castle, cycling between them on the fly.

Namco vs Capcom would be neat. Bamco usually does crossover RPGs, but I don't think they've done a crossover fighter (SFxTekken doesn't count). Everyone already knows the general idea of what Capcom characters they want, but as for the Bamco side of the roster:

It's curious, cartoony characters are often ignored for this kind of stuff.

I have no idea if this would work but I'd be curious to see some PC characters. I guess Valve is the closest to having a more full roster. Most PC companies, or even western companies for that matter, don't really have the same kind of roster mascots that Japanese companies have.
