Why is he such a meme in the PC gaming community? I genuinely and honestly don't understand.
Why is he such a meme in the PC gaming community? I genuinely and honestly don't understand
Do you remember PC gaming before Steam? That's why, his mentality "piracy is a service problem" pretty much single handedly saved PC gaming.
Because he can't count to 3 and we love retards here
A lot of his choices in the industry has been user friendly in the past and fat people are easy to meme. I don't know about modern gaben but he was a beacon of good. He also helped PC gaming get off the ground.
>invented steam
>invented sales
>isnt controlled by stockholders/corps
>half life
>brought PC gaming to the living room
>cs
>tf
>portal
>lets fans make games with his IP
>cute
>hates console gamers
>why do we love him
Marketing marketing marketing.
Exactly the same shit as why Steve Jobs was popular.
Naive retards don't want to believe his entire image is marketing, because gee willy how could a multibillionaire who got his start in the ruthless microshit ever be anything but honest good man?
>"piracy is a service problem"
He was wrong, as Denuvo is proofing now, piracy was just a problem of too weak DRM.
I sent Gaben an e-mail once and he actually replied. He based.
Thread should've ended there
He's seriously creepy now, up there with Bill Gates as a MotB nigger who wants to meld with AI and control humanity
He looks like santa.
nobody who wants to pirate is buying games with denuvo
brain to computer interfaces are coming whether you like it or not. i cant wait for 1:1 dream-like games with full body and mind control
Doesn't matter, piracy is finished either way, Scene groups have pretty much given up on it and are cracking only indies now.
He's the father of 21st century PC gaming. He schooled the fuck out of Microsoft and consoles.
He's charismatic and fat
The memes make themselves
Zoomers OUT
He's one of the main reasons PC gaming even exists
He led the way by bringing Doom to windows and establishing gaming software
Then he made Steam and laid the groundwork for every single digital distribution program since
And his games have been some of the biggest influences in the history of vidya
Do an ounce of research before you post
Based, gabe created pc gaming and denuvo saves it.
>schooled
>lost vasts amount of cash trying to enforce the linux gaming meme that failed spectacularly
dont tell him
did he go too far here?
that looks like a really nice steak
annoyed i've never had a good steak in my life. i've always been disappointed by them on the rare occasion i get to eat out
Your tranny overlord 0xempress is a joke
seethe
What? The stupid poll or something else? There is this only one group that claims to intend to crack Denuvo.
>"piracy is a service problem" pretty much single handedly saved PC gaming.
But it wasn't. Piracy is a security problem, objectively.
>Make shit games
>No one wants to pirate the game
Damn 169 iq moves execs
>goes from drone, to game dev, to owner of the biggest pc market place
>private american company
>consumer focused business principles
>responds sometimes to fan emails
>broke records with dota 2 basically paving the way for modern esports.
>"I'm Gabe Newell."
Shutup and buy Valve Index
Tranny "empress" in "final form"? Any news of "her"?
>make good games
>make uncrackable DRM
This causes piratefags to kill themselves or actually get a job to buy games
vast amounts of cash that is still a tiny percentage of their annual turnover. somewhat related but vulkan is doing well to topple directx
Once I get my stimulus check
Valve supported Linux to head off Microsoft's attempt at walling off the PC market with Windows 10.
Even if it's still a meme OS for bidogaems, it was resources well spent.
if it's his property he can use it however he wants imo
There was a statistic about valve being one of the most effecient revenue generating companies per worker capita
He's not wrong, you just don't understand his sentiment.
Not everyone who pirates does it because they just don't want to buy a game. For these people, yes, a DRM like Denuvo is useful to squeeze out a few more sales.
Gabe is referring to people who will simply pirate a game because it would otherwise be difficult to obtain.
Why would I drive to or call up a bunch of different stores to check if they have a particular games that a little old when I can just download a torrent of it with minimal effort?
Steam effectively resolved this issue for PC games.
Another example I'd have of this would be when Game of Thrones initially started airing, no television company in Australia bothered to get the rights because they didnt expect it to get any traction and it took till like season 3 to fix this. Because of this, it was basically impossible to find anywhere on our television stations meaning that Australia had infamously high pirate rates that carried through all the way to the end of the shows run.
Based
It will be interresting how noDRM-cucks like cdproj react to the developments.
I mean that doesn't really mean anything other than stating the obvious that Steam itself is a money printing machine. They basically own the bank, of course the bank is going to make money.
most ceos reply you idiot LMAOOO
you can email the head of twitter right now he'll reply
its called PR sweetie
You don't have hbo? Lol what the fuck
When will he get tired of it all and cash-out by doing an IPO and then walking away.
Half Life 3
Because he is a huge asshole and we like being cucked.
he was very customer focused at a time when literally every major company was anti-PC and heading towards consoles, even fucking microsoft was anti-PC and refused to port xbox exclusives to PC where they had in the past (halo 1 and 2, gears, etc.)
steam also made pc gaming basically braindead easy, I don't think many people remember when you had to manually patch games and how different games had their own online systems you had to use shit like gamespy or other proprietary systems that would be different for each game (eg, having to log in to EA's system to play BC2 online, having to log in to epic's system to play UT3 even if you bought these games on steam)
the whole lord gaben meme is a bit much but without steam pc gaming would be a lot less accessible for customers and developers (remember before steam japanese devs very rarely released their games on PC and even then they barely worked, see: the first ports of RE4 and DMC3)
Steam being as successful as it was in Russia is a good example of this.
he's cute and steam sales used to be real, now he's like aunt jemima even though you haven't had pancakes in 15 years. Am I supposed to be mad at aunt jemima
You are right and he did good work solving those problems, but today games are easier to obtain than ever and piracy is still high.
Yes, the company is shit and there's nothing wrong with being mad at a company they don't have feelings.
No we don't and because of this despite being 0.33% of the worlds population, Australia made up 12.5% of all game of thrones piracy
Piracy is never going to end. Accept it. Pirates and publishers are in a never-ending circle of struggle. Such is the equilibrium that must be kept.
