Indie Games

Why aren't you using quarantine to play through all the great indies you missed in the last decade user?

But I am. Yoku's Island Express was fun

cringe and based, respectively

>great indies
good joke

Bad chart.

>Nex Machina
>Lethal League
>Zachtronics Games
>Pathologic 2
>Cringe
Thems fightin' words

you have to actually play indie games to appreciate them, and almost no one on Yas Forums plays vidya period
Rain World so far is one of the best games I've ever played
Monolith is Binding of Isaac but better, imo, but it's still nothing more than a time waster.
The Messenger was dissappointing and Katana Zero, while better as far as I saw, is just a sidescrolling hotline miami with less stuff
I'm thinking about reinstalling FTL and trying Dustforce again. the scoring system of the latter triggered my autism and I refused to leave a level unless I could do it perfectly. that sucked the fun out of the thing.

you have awful taste

because indie games are terrible and I already played the only good ones

>FLT
>Rimworld
>Terraria
>Risk of Rain

All the others are complete trash.

>Newest game of the 'good games' came out in 2016

You just don't play vidya anymore user, it's okay to admit it.

Post good indie games and I will tell you why I don't like it.

I wil be honest about those I haven't heard of and will give you one (1) chance to convince me to play it.

alot of good indies came out since 2016, they just don't have any random level generation
play Rain World and Return of the Obra Dinn.
try Pathologic 2 as well.
all three are some of the best games ever made, and you'll find nothing like them.

>Post good indie games and I will tell you why I don't like it.
>Nex Machina
>DUSK
>AM2R
>Hollow Knight
>Lethal League Blaze
>Outer Wilds
>Monolith
>and will give you one (1) chance to convince me to play it.
lmao I'm not putting in that much effort

>play Rain World and Return of the Obra Dinn.
Never heard of them. Sell me on those games.

>try Pathologic 2 as well.
Looks pretentious. If you got some argument to defend the game, let me hear it.

Never heard of any of them holy shit maybe you're right maybe I haven't tried enough.

Hollow Knight is the only one I recognize, and that game is platformer trash, that's why I not just not like it, but hate it.
AM2R is platformer garbage too.

There, sell me on the other games, why should I like them?

here
I will tell you how "old" (not that old) Yas Forums convinced me to play the best indie games ever made ()

>FTL
>you are in a spaceshit and you have to manage your ship while you travel through space being attacked by everthing
Boom, sold me.
>Rimworld
>you crash on a planet and have to manage your colony so they don't die horrible deaths
Boom, sold me.
>Terraria
>you are in 2D Minecraft and you explore caves, also you can build and manage your house.
Boom, sold me.
>Risk of Rain
>you are a space soldier fighting giant monsters, the equipment is randomized to maximize replayability
Boom, sold me.

Don't Starve is another indie game I like, and I forgot to mention it.
Slay the Spire is great too.

>Nex Machina
>Monolith
Two of the best twin-stick shooters in their class. Nex Machina's a linear arcade game (which was assisted in design by Eugene Jarvis of Smash TV fame), Monolith's a roguelite
>Outer Wilds
Comfy space exploration game within a small solar system, exploring planets in your spaceship and on foot trying to solve a mystery of the universe (not spoiling the main hook if you don't know it already)
>Lethal League Blaze
Essentially a pseudo fighting game about punting a ball around the stage to hit the other player. Also funky fresh beats

based, gonna give them a go just out of respect for your dedication.

I hope they are fun. Outer Wilds is the one that attracts me the most but I will try them all.

is risk of rain worth playing ?

i've tried multiple times to get into both games and it still doesn't click - the random gen levels are boring to explore

>caring about exploration in a action packeg boss rush game
what's wrong with you?

>No Sayonara Wild Hearts
user...

Why aren't you including this fun game in the mix?

Attached: environmental_station_alpha.jpg (1280x720, 78.62K)

I've really gotta play through that game and Axiom Verge sometime

First of all, are you playing alone? It's not a solo game. Its a co-op game.
Second of all, like the other user said, you shouldn't look for exploration in a game that doesnt care about exploration. If you're looking for a good exploration game, RoR isn't what you're looking for. It's an arcade game, those that you put a coin in the machine and play until you get killed.
Thirdly, starting a game with the wrong mindset can ruin the experience of the game, inform yourself better before trying games.
Fourth and last, play with your cousins, friends,,or with Yas Forums. Yes, I have to repeat this because the fun comes from screaming "Fuck me I died, it's all on you now, beat his ass!" to your partner.

based Matt drone.

because I'm lonely and I really want to play a multiplayer game but don't know which one. Also I want to grief people and be a dick ass thief but not an mmo and definitely not wow

>Why aren't you using quarantine to play through all the great indies you missed in the last decade user?
I am, but mostly Japanese ones with an occasional exception.

>Terraria
Looking back at my hours invested into the game, the thing that is good about Terraria is how the RPG elements (mainly bosses/PvE) are so much better than Minecraft.

warzone

Obra Dinn is probably the best mystery solving game made so far. you try to figure out what happened to the crew of a ship that went missing on it's way to india. you use a magic pocket watch that lets you see and explore the exact moment of someones death, and in these frozen moments you find clues that let you identify each of the crew and what happened to them.
Rain World is a sprawling 2d survival game where you're always at the lower middle of the food chain in violent ecosystem and you never get any higher. no gameplay upgrades or permanent equipment, just your wits, your luck, and whatever you might find on the ground. There's also reoccuring and deadly rain showers that you can only survive by making it to a safehouse in time.
>pathologic 2 looks pretentious
you can't counter a non-argument. It's the best story driven game I've ever played largely because it doesn't sacrifice or seperate the game part for the story part. You play a doctor trying to save a weird, backwater town from a mysterious plague. you harvest organs and take care of orphans. It's pretty brutal though. too much caution can leave you starving in a ditch and too little will get you the plague. it also has the most fleshed out cast in the medium, and top tier atmosphere.

Trying too hard.

Will try them for you.

Not who you replied to but my issue with Obra Dinn is the art style gives me headaches. Same thing for World Of Horror and A Short Hike, but ASH lets you turn down the pixellated look.

cringe

most indie games i try dont cut it for me, furi was enjoyable to had to play on the easiest difficulty, i dislike platformers so thats a no, i also dislike rogue games like isaac so thats a no, dislike generated worlds like minecraft and terraria so thats a no, rain world is a shitty game, dont understand the appeal of FTL, enjoyed slay the spire for like 6 hours till i beat it with ironclad and stopping, also disliked risk of rain, lisa, undertale

hotline miami is a 10/10 tho

>Get MP indie game
>dies a week after launch

Been playing One Step From Eden lately, that's pretty fun.

>Frozen Synapse 2
It still fucking hurts. Genuinely the most well-designed turn-based multiplayer game ever made

>buying an indie game for multiplayer
lol

If your enjoyment of a game depends on lots of other people playing it, you better make sure it's a popular game. This is why multiplayer is trash.

you hate videogames

This is fucking horrible. You're just outing yourself as a complete idiot - Baba, Factorio, Zachtronics, Spire, and Touhou are all games for smart people.

>you have to manage
>and have to manage
>you can build and manage
disgusting; thanks for convincing me not to play these.

I am though. I'm casually playing Recettear

Attached: 1336294754623.jpg (240x298, 14.91K)

almost everything on that list is objectively worse than almost everything on the OP list

No problem, Hulk.

The fanbase appreciates your choice.

in your dreams

most indie games are just not my style for the reasons i mentioned, i enjoy linear experiences with clear endgoal, souls games, jrpgs, ARPGs, turn based games (but i did not enjoy fell seal)

like i said i enjoyed furi but it was too hard for me, hotline miami is one of my favorite games, platfoermers/roguelikes/generated worlds go in the trash

i will try stardew valley and obra dinn soon
