I let it die then chilled with waifu.
Alternatively the same but inside a picture.

It doesn't really matter, all endings happen due to the time-convoluted thing.

It's not about corrupt gods, or you. It's symbolically about preserving the light, tradition and civilization. Snuffing out the giver of everything good is the radical, revolutionary action, the results of which no one really knows. Niggaz out of power in the present order want you to do that only to gain power themselves, they don't give a fuck about the world.

>destroying all civilizations because another guy who turned out to be a dick also doesn't want civilizations to be destroyed

>sacrificing your souls so that the gods can keep men in servitude

>plunging the world into eternal darkness because you think the souls you siphoned off a dying world belong to you

the age of dark = the age of men, the idea that age of dark is a bad thing comes form Gwyn and the other gods who are scared of humanity.

Kindling makes no sense in 3 because you see how weak the effect is and how little difference does it make. If you want to "keep civilization" that shit wont last a year, so you might as well go for the greedy waifu killer ending, at least there you could theoretically try to lead the new dark world with the first flame powers. Hollow Lord ending is similar but it leaves your power position more obvious and you might be manipulated by Yuria.

The most logical ending is snuffing out the flame. Just let the world rest for a bit, maybe the future will hold something good, maybe it wont but its clear that the whole message behind DaS3 is knowing to let go.

one off the four ending's is cannon
>Pionts if you can name it
>Double points if you know the meme ending name

>manipulating an entire race into a state of mass Stockholm Syndrome is "good"

Fuck off gwyn you're objectively a complete twat who fucked the natural order of the world because of your own narcissistic greed you absolute control freak

It's not eternal, it's a natural phase the world inevitably goes through, just like the age of fire, and trying to artificially postpone it just causes more misery. If you see something falling, give it a push.

>He actually spent enough time reading all the item descriptions and piecing together the half-plot of Dark Souls that he knew what was going on at the end of the game.

>the results of which no one really knows.
Sure they know, the age of dark.
Then another age of flame.
Then another age of dark.

Indeed, snuffing out the flame seems like the proper ending. As waifu says, one day new embers will dance so a new world can rise from the ashes of this one.

Usurping the flame is my favorite ending, but that age won't last long. As far as I know, hollows can't breed so it's only a matter of time before what's left of humanity will waste away.

So is the world DS takes place in eternally doomed to constantly go through ages of light and dark? None of the endings in DS3 really seem to properly "end" this bullshit

Linking the fire is the same as in DS1, we're just delaying the inevitable

Snuffing out the flame takes us to the next age of dark which will just inevitably turn into a new age of fire anyway

I'm not 100% on what usurping the flame actually would do, wouldn't it just put the world in a perpetual age of dark where hollows will slowly be the only thing left until all decays into dust as seen in the arena where you fight Gael?

Like the only possible good ending I can think of is potentially within the painting made with the Dark Soul assuming it actually stays free of cycles

This is the best option
Just chill out with your waifu in the dark, just the two of you
Perfect ending

Yes user snuff out that flame

where do people get the idea that the world ages cycle endlessly, the game never says that. The idea of cycles refers to the cycle of people linking the fire to postpone the age of fire. The ages in dark souls come from ancient mythology age of ancients = creation, age of fire = age of gods and of dark = age of men.

In the end of fire ending of DS3 (The one where the Firekeeper puts out the flame) and the world turns dark, she says she senses tiny embers at the end of it all, implying a new age of fire will eventually occur

Because even if you extinguish the flame there are always embers that survive ready to be rekindled in the future
The game explicitly says that in one of the endings

>So is the world DS takes place in eternally doomed to constantly go through ages of light and dark?
It is now. I miss the ambiguity of DS1.
>’what’s next after this age of fire?’
>DS2 and 3:’just tons more of them, no big deal’
Whatever choice you make at the end of DS1 doesn’t matter, shit continues on regardless through DS2 and DS3.

People actually care about the "story" in Dark Souls?

The Firekeeper and the Shrine Handmaiden tell you that the fire eventually returns after an age of dark.

A better question is what is Kaathe's real motive knowing that the age of dark can't be prolonged like the age of fire?

Inb4 I get bombarded by weebs telling me he the jap sctipt stated he died long ago

>where do people get the idea that the world ages cycle endlessly
DS3
>and of dark = age of men
Or the age of zero photosynthesis and all sorts of bad shit.

>Not doing the right thing because some dude was an asshole who did or wants that thing/hates you.

Shit logic. Peak contrarian shit logic.

That's only because someone actually goes trough with lighting the fire, otherwise the age of dark never stops.

How does that contradict anything I said.

>the age of dark = the age of men
Ah yes, men.
Hollows. Who eventually go mad and turn all life into other hollows.

That is not true
When the world is in an Age of Dark, there will always be embers with which you can rekindle an Age of Fire, you do not need to keep artificially prolonging the original Age of Fire to ensure that there will be fire in the future

>A better question is what is Kaathe's real motive knowing that the age of dark can't be prolonged like the age of fire?
The usurper ending. As you hinted at from the handmaiden and firekeeper dialog, just snuffing out the flame would no longer be enough. Hence the Londor church and the ultimate dark dickhead ending that kills the flame for good.

Because it is eternal, if nobody lights the fire then there's no new age of light, ever.
The embers are literally just people who are left after the age of dark begun and rekindle the flame.

I attacked her at the last second, not knowing it caused a different ending.
Then I didn't play the game for a couple years, and did it again without remembering what had happened the first time.

So in other words, all it takes is one faggot who wants to restart the age of fire to succeed? Sounds like a forgone conclusion given enough time.

>Because it is eternal
Says who?
