I fucking hate gaiden and revelations since it's thanks to those two games that Awakening can't be crowned as the worst FE game

You need to be euthanized.

Every girl looks better with bigger tits. Even the ones that already have big tits

Lucina is a flatty. Stop posting this propaganda bullshit.

>the worst FE game

What a fucking Zoomer opinion. And probably said without even playing any of the games. Awakening isn't even close to the worst.

It's miles better than 1-3 (and by extention 11 and 12), way better than 6. Has a story that's not a complete fucking joke, unlike 7 and 10, and actually attempt to do something with the FE forumlae unlike 8. If you really wanna claim the Jugdrall games and 9 as better than it, go ahead, that's just opinion at that point but Awakening is easily in the upper few FE games.

Bro, Awakening's story lasts about 13 chapters top before shitting the bed, RD's story lasts until about 3-10 before it gets shit.

11 did have some good interesting maps, like the wooden cavalry, Knorda market, Princess Minvera, I only played 12 once, but I remember apart from everybody's hatred of Kris, it seemed to be pretty well-received amongst those who played it.

Don't get me wrong I enjoyed Awakening, but outside of the children paralogues, the maps weren't that interesting, and same move reinforcements ala FE6 was a big mistake

Good taste. I like it too.

worthless bitch who went back in time and didn't do shit, my boy Robin saved the future all by himself

i feel you user, i actually got around to playing awakening the first time after being late to the party and i like how varied the map geography (like moving from wasteland to plains to snow to arena, etc) and colors are. every map looks different so far and coming from three houses, it's a nice pace changer even though i played the fuck out of three houses. havent had lucina reveal herself yet but im digging the presentation for it so far. cant form a full opinion yet on the game but it feels pretty genuine

Not him but I'm somewhat of a normie when it comes to fire emblem, only played awakening, fates (hated this BTW), 3 houses, and part of shadows of valentia. I despise permadeath but want to play another fire emblem, should I just not play them?

Oh boy you got hit by a critical and your character died? Better reload the game and restart the whole mission

the remake of marth's second game (the one that came out before awakening) is the one that introduced casual, but that never got an official localization, only a fan translation. if you wanna set up an emulator give that one a shot, i believe it also has a create your own character like robin/corrin. as far as the earlier games go, sacred stones (8, 2nd gba game) is very very easy because you have a very good (if not the best unit in the game) as soon as you start and generally it's easier than the other games even on the hardest selectable difficulty. theres also a map option which lets you grind if you want to break the game early

I also hate the retarded rng stat level ups. Wow you gained +1 this time and +4 last time? This means that some people legit have an objectively harder time with the game because the rng fucks them over.

>This means that some people legit have an objectively harder time with the game because the rng fucks them over
nah not really, there are always some units that are overpowered regardless of growths

Yeah I have a friend that plays a shit load of fire emblem and he just breaks the games by doing autistic levels of grinding which might alleviate the fear of permadeath a bit.

There's a reason why the more recent game have a casual mode that disable perma death. Don't feel bad if you wanna use it.

It is a problem if you want to play the older FE games because they don't have it and if a unit dies then it's just tough

Awakening's story is consistent and strong from start to finish. You've got a driving plot and multiple acts that all come together and culminate in a way that makes perfect sense and ties in with why it all happened. It's good. You know why you're where you are at every point, you know why you're fighting and when you have the full story you know why everything happened like it did.

7? It's like a fucking Saturday Morning Cartoon. The plot is driven entirely by convenience, and nothing else. Why does Ninian constantly lose her memory or go unconscious: Because they want to hide an utterly meaningless and stupidly guessable twist. Why do the villains constantly have the heroes at their mercy but refuse to actually do a single thing to them: Because it's convenient. Why are you fighting almost any of the enemies you fight: Because FE games have you fight at each story node.

Unlike almost the entire series, the plot isn't driven by a war, so you never have an actual reason to fight at almost all the locations you go to. You just randomly get attacked by Fang/Bandits and hey, fight. Completely disconnected to the "plot" and nothing but a waste of time. Even 6, SIX, justified their shit better than that.

Not even gonna bother mentioning 10's story, it's garbage from start to finish and the only thing that stops Conquest or 7 from being crowned "Worst story in the series."

12 was okay, but it certainly wasn't great and it's utterly hamstrung by being connected to 11/1. And anyone who complains about Kris better fucking call out all the other garbage retcons and stupid plot points or I'm calling them a fucking hypocrite.

i understand that it's kind of a kick in the dick to get shit level ups, i think thats part of what makes the series fun to me, even if some of my favorite characters are objectively bad compared to others. having someone be shit for a chapter means you have to change your strategy around that, which means that a playthrough isnt gonna be the same every time. i know certain later games in the series tried to circumvent this by making it so that you will at least always get a "pity" two stats guaranteed on level up

have you guys played cindered shadows dlc for three houses, i feel like it scratched the itch of an old style FE game mechanics wise, because i dont think i had to restart, but i did burn through a lot of divine pulses while playing it the first time.

i know it sucks having to restart an entire chapter (moreso if it's a long one like certain chapters in roys game,) but i found that you can kinda soften the blow during the retry by just turning off the animations to get yourself back to where you were faster. if all else fails you can just take it slow and careful

>awakening is the worst game
>when three houses exists

Robin only managed to survive because of Lucina though. It's due to her going back in time that he lost all his memories and was more reliant on (and thus closer) to Chrom. She also prevented Chrom from being injured, which again let them be closer together. And with her warning and his bonds, Robin was able to beat the Mind Control that got him the first time around.

Look at the prologue, Robin and Chrom only have the equivilent stats of a B rank support.

>I despise permadeath but want to play another fire emblem, should I just not play them?

Honestly if that's your mindset you're probably better off just playing another SRPG series (Try FFT for example), permadeath is a huge part of Fire Emblem and the games are much, much better with it on. I did a replay of Awakening the first time I beat it without permadeath and it just about ruined the whole experience, you can beat all the maps by just zerging.

Your other option is to play either 8 or 9, both of which are so hillariously easy and casualised that you should never be at risk of losing a single unit (are there even promoted enemies in 8? Maybe on the final map?) Or Radiant Dawn and FE4, both of which let you save and reload mid-battle as much as you like anytime you like. It's a tedious way to play, but you literally cannot lose and you can guarantee yourself always getting great level ups.

>havent had lucina reveal herself yet but im digging the presentation for it so far. cant form a full opinion yet on the game but it feels pretty genuine

Ah, I really hope you enjoy the game user. But I can't help but feel it's sad that you already know about that reveal, and about the future-children at all. I hope you don't know about the other twists, you should try avoid them completely if you don't.

Playing it at release, with all the marketing material telling us that "Marth" was actually Marth, and then having all those plot points come together was such a huge shock and a really amazing moment. But it's one of those twists that becomes just such a normal part of the game's discussion (you almost can't talk about Awakening without it) that anyone who came slightly later was spoiled on it.

Yeah man I've been thinking about getting into final fantasy tactics. I don't consider myself very good at strategy games but I really like shining force for being relatively forgiving without permadeath and it has similar mechanics to fire emblem. I figure once I get into playing more difficult srpgs I'll be able to get into real shit fire emblem with permadeath. When I played fates and was on a mission and had to reload like 10 times not to lose a character I was like "man, fuck this" and stopped playing.

The only other one with no permadeath is FE12, which is a fair bit harder, and a sequel so I wouldn't recomment. However I would recommend emulating 7 (Blazing sword), 8 (Sacred Stones), or if your pc can run dolphin 9 (PoR), and use the save states

7 has a 10 chapter tutorial for new players
8 is generally easier overall, and gives you the ability to grind in between battles
9 has a difficulty somewhere between the two, has a lot of neat concepts, and fixes the support system from the GBA games so you aren't stuck having characters wait next to each other for 40 turns or so. PoR also has a fixed mode, where it's sort of pre-determined what stats go up based on equipment, and enemy you're fighting.

The Gangrel arc is good, Walhart's arc is weaker but still serviceable, the third arc is a big let-down though. Future Past is really good, and the kids work pretty well

I didn't mention 7's story because it's not that point, but as for villains having the heroes at their mercy, there's Nergal at the end of Cogs of Destiny where he leaves because Ninian agrees to go with him, and there's you getting the legendary weapon, which he later says to Limstella is because he lost a lot of quintessence fighting Athos.Maybe you can count Vaida at the end of unfulfilled heart, but that's about it. I don't really agree with the no reason to fight considering for the first part Darin is trying to stop Eliwood from finding out about the planned rebellion, so the first arc is just stopping Darin's plans.

10's story is fine for part 1 and 2, outside of Jared being token evil., and I would say most of the war is fine until 3-10 when Zelgius retreats because Elincia drops her weapon. (He should have said they needed to retreat because if they accidentally killed Elincia, then they would have another country at war with them, who are currently in a good position to flank them).

i think there are more promoted monsters than there are human promoted units in 8, kek.

i think the autosave system in radiant dawn can kind of be a trap though, i think it would be best to use it like every other 3 or 4 turns because you could save while in a fucked up position and will have no way to roll back. i dont think that option exists on hard mode either. i think the shadow dragon remake also has map saves, but only on specific tiles and i thought that was a cool way to do it, since theyre usually far away from each other that when you reach the 2nd one, youre probably almost done with the map. you could even be cheesy and save one of them just so you can try doing some bullshit strat against a boss

i actually got spoiled about lucina (and some of awakening's plot) from playing warriors first lol, i kinda went through a self loathing phase during the early 2010s and stopped giving a shit about video games until i got a switch, which i think is funny because when awakening came out in the US i actually ended up getting it despite not having a 3ds, since FE was and still is a series i really like. i completely skipped the 3ds era so it'll be interesting to finish this then move on to fates and the gaiden remake, especially after coming from playing the fuck out of three houses

thanks for reading my blog
