now that the dust has finally settled, was portal 2 a good game?
Now that the dust has finally settled, was portal 2 a good game?
Not as good as Portal 1, but still a very good game.
It was alright but you could tell they were trying a little too hard to put more humor into the game compared to 1.
Yes? I didn't know this was a controversial opinion
It was fine.
Every time it felt like things were going to get interesting it would dump story on you and then reset the difficulty curve. It was infuriating, it made the game feel like a giant tutorial.
i felt this sometimes too, kinda felt like they just stretched the original game, which is also one big tutorial
>now that the dust has finally settled
go and stay go
it was a good movie, pretty shit game though
this but the other way around
Portal 2 was a good game, but it lost the eerie, sterile, aseptic and serious feel which made Portal 1 so unique.
Yes. Although I wish you could have gotten more experimental with portals throughout. Mostly it was a case of "look for the white wall". New mechanics were fun though and the coop levels are absolutely genius.
user, it's been 9 years. The dust has already fossilised.
are they our boys?
Too much of a movie game. Game is unplayable after the first playthrough because of the unskippable cutscenes.
why no portal VR?
Vomit inducing/10
Campaing 8/10
Co-op 20/10 and one of the best coops ever
Budget Cuts, kinda
Agreed. It's so well produced and every line of dialog so memorable and every puzzle solution so easy to remember that this actually kills replays. Your second playthrough is like trying to have fun with a crossword book that's already been filled in while some redditor quotes tired movie quotes for 3 hours.
Even if I can remember the puzzle solutions I still wouldn't mind playing the game purely to do them again, but those unskippable cutscenes are a death sentence for this game.
>now that the dust has finally settled, was portal 2 a good game?
God no. Portal 1 was also shit. It's only beloved by journos because it was the first puzzle game they could actually beat.
Dumbed down like every Valve game since HL1
A worthy sequel, but it caused the decline of experimentation in Valve.

No (you) for you.
It was a good game but not a good portal game
The puzzles in the singleplayer weren't as good, but the puzzles in the coop were better than portal 1.
I only liked it because of the mods on the workshop, they give actual challenge/actual fun instead of muh cinematic hand holding with famous voice actor sidekick garbage, god damn.
Portal 2 went in every direction possible and it strongly contrasts with the minimalism of the first one.
What did I think of goo as a game mechanic?
you tell us
shame they cut the goo that let you walk on walls because pl*Ytesters got nauseous
This thread is great, but I wish there was a way to find all the gamers in the crowd...
I think it was mostly an excuse to force liquid sim into a game, but it felt tedious and not very satisfying to spray it around.
