The most interesting thing about Psycho Mantis, however, is the fact that we've never been told exactly what the opponent would be doing throughout their game. It's the kind of trick that still puzzles gamers today; the basis for MGS 3's Psycho Mantis. He appears in Metal Gear Solid 3, Solid Snake's very first game. We learn early on that he's in charge of environmental destruction, and as a result he's a specialist at disrupting. But none of us ever gets to play. It's a mystery. In the subsequent games, we still don't know exactly what he's doing. We don't get to see what goes through his mind.

I'll say with confidence that the first couple of hours is the most fun I've had in a video game. But when you're finished fucking around and realize that you've done all the game has to offer It takes a dive in quality.

I never used those speed enhancements, makes him run and crawl like a retard on speed and you can't take it off once developed.

best in mechanics, but wasted on fucking barren areas and shitty side missions. also what's the fucking point of building that mechanical thing and not using it.
it really needed a full or half-map sized facilty as some kind of final "continent", to change over the big maps with spreaded military areas with an easy way to escape, to a area that you need to hide yourself well because the escape routes are sparse.
an outer heaven mission starring solid snake would have been that kind of continent-sized facility
