7.5-8/10. The ending was a clear message that nomura and square are going to do whatever they wasn't to the story now, but the game itself was pretty great except for the padding, especially those parts ripped right from the original. I just wish the people shitting on those that wanted a faithful remake would be honest and admit they don't actually like the original and were just nomura/compilation fans, especially considering nomura's recent track record along with the fact that every time they've added to the original FF7 they've detracted from it.

9/10. Excellent game, corridors and textures are a problem, so is the walk and talk. I got the platinum trophy for it. The only thing I would have liked more is if they had kept it more similar to the original, no ghosts, keep the Jessie chapter, Corneo revist and the Drum, have the end boss be Motorball. Then when you play it on hard mode and we get this version of the game with the ghosts showing up, Sephiroth showing up etc. I think that would have been a really interesting way to do it and I don't think it would have been that much harder.

Don't bother trying to get genuine opinions, the boards infested with hate shills being paid to shit on the game. Give them a week or so until their paycheck runs out.

To be fair Royal Edition on PC is MUCH better than day 1 launch PS4 which was a mess.

I don't really care about the story changes, but it is still a fifth of a complete game

Fun combat, great voice acting, mixed bag of visuals, the new story content that doesn't include time janitors is good.

But actual content is lacking with much of the playtime being padded out by bad side quests, forcing you to play some chapters 3 times to get 100% completion because of a needless alternate costume choice, and the "end game content" consists entirely of picking fights off a menu and fighting enemies in a basic VR chamber.

People do that for free, user. Nobody has to be paid to "hate shill" this game, mostly because very few people truly hate it, just like how very few people would genuinely call it a masterpiece. Amusing bait though, I chuckled.

The people who like this game never liked FF7 to begin with. They're just bandwagon hopping, nu-Square fans brought on by advent children and kingdom hearts. They're directionless children with no taste who just want to feel like they belong somewhere.

Outside the characterisation which the game does great everything else is mediocre. The nice visuals are bogged down by obvious low poly textures. The combat is filled with flying enemies that go outside of the camera fov. The OST is hit and miss. The story is a clusterfuck of Nomura ideas that are played seriously but come off as comedy and the game is aggressively padded, where every new area I'm expecting the party to fall down another hole.
