The game does this deliberately to make the player uncomfortable. The point isnt whether or not they fucked, it's the simple fact that it makes you insecure. Without knowing yet that cloud actually follows through with the same process as an ESSENTIAL PART OF HIS CHARACTER, the player will try to suppress any embarrassing insecurity they feel because they're ashamed of it. I'd argue that Johnny having a fiance is meant to be the 'gotcha' that the devs were just kidding with you, but the IMO the fact that people are still made insecure enough to be certain they were keked anyways only proves how masterful it is.
