Greatly enjoyed this despite it being a JRPG, probably because it lacks all the retarded anime tropes that commonly plague the genre.

What are some similarly quality JRPGs?

The game is literally a late 90s early 00s battle shonen. Great game, but this game and the entire series is very anime.

>probably because it lacks all the retarded anime tropes that commonly plague the genre.
Xenoblade is literally a shonen.

Not XBC2, XCX on the other hand. Unless you're thinking anime = weeb.

>Uwuuh look at me, I'm perfectly normal, look how I hate anime, can I get a gf now?

>probably because it lacks all the retarded anime tropes that commonly plague the genre.
i guess they only added them for my 3DS version lmao

>playing the 3ds version

Well, that's a new edge for the game I guess

If you want JRPGs with less-than-usual anime stuff:
Dark Souls, Dragon's Dogma, Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre

If you want JRPGs with a similar sense of adventure as Xenoblade:
Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest V, Grandia

Dragon's Dogma is quite similar to XC, it grabs you by the balls and commands you to do those sidequest and see how far you can go in the map IMExp

It's not a jrpg, it's a japanese rpg.

You'll LOVE the sequel then because it's the exact opposite.

Granted it's not as tropey as XBC2 and I love the game but
LOL

what's going on in this gif

Did you even play the second half of fft?

Last Story

The "I sweah i'm NOT A WEEB and this is NOT A WEEB game" people are so boring. Go be delusional on reddit, we value self-awareness here.

People casually use the term "anime tropes" as if it automatically means something is bad. That's downright not the case. The way XB1 executes these tropes, is mostly in a simple manner, without feeling over the top for the most part. At least, that's why people seem to prefer it over XB2 in terms of general story. It's no doubt the equivalent of a shonen anime, but the story has a more serious, and oppressive tone compared to the 2nd entry, which people seem to prefer.

>Self awareness
>Yas Forums
Pick one, and only one.

>xenoblade x mechs and map with dd combat
oof i want it so bad

Oh I agree, I just wouldn't blame someone too much for feeling XBC1's story is a bit 'too anime' considering the tropes it utilizes. I feel like XBC is on the more anime side of things on the spectrum of "retarded anime tropes that commonly plague the genre" which is why OP's post is hilarious.

Eh, there's levels to this shit. XB1 is definitely filled with the typical tropes that you see in JRPG's, I wouldn't say they're necessarily retarded, or over the top. That is, until Zanza and Mayneth start clashing at light speed for that one cutscene in the second half of the game. That, and maybe the usual "we're here to kill God" shit that is a real plague, but otherwise, it's pretty lax.

Did you play the second half of Xenoblade?

Aside from what you mentioned I'd say the game has one of the more egregious examples of power levels I've seen. Even SMT and Persona have the context of supernatural demons aiding them, but the cast of XBC are primarily regular people.
I'd argue bad guy was actually trying to stop an even greater evil probably falls into that category as well but I think it's actually great so I'm not gonna give it shit for it.

>Power levels

Whut they tell you right from the start you weild the power of a legendary weapon. Hell the only reason why Shulk isn't an unstoppable killing machine with it is because Egil used a loophole to make it useless for the first half of the game and as the game points out it has little effect against creatures birthed by Bionis. And the times he doesn't have that power Alvis is supporting him.

The game is a lot of things but one thing it does well is mostly explain it's bullshit.

>explain it's bullshit.
yo how did shulk literally make a 3rd monado out of friendship?

>probably because it lacks all the retarded anime tropes that commonly plague the genre
inb4 butthurt 2boys jumping into the thread screaming about "shonen!" and 1 being full of anime tropes actually, like they always do in defense of their cringe fest

But yeah OP most people agree. XB1 manages to apply brevity and constraint in regards to JRPG and anime bullshit, which is why its liked so much more than its follow ups and rated almost ten points higher than 2.

Sadly there's nothing like it in that regard. Check out Vagrant Story for something similarly decent in terms of story.

Alvis wills it.

The rest of the cast are just regular people though. Like how did they realistically defeat Dickson? That was after Shulk lost his Monado and before Shulk gained his Anti-Zanza Monado

I don't give a fuck about what other people think but I must say, I FUCKING love anime, I'm glad they ditched that ugly as sin faces from the original for more ANIME faces in XBC DE, fuck you and fuck anything that isn't anime. If you don't like anime make me a favo and get out of this thread, or better yet, get out of this board.

Eat shit OP, anime website.
That said, post bird.
