Release the hardest fighting game ever with GG AC that everyone loves but no one plays

>release the hardest fighting game ever with GG AC that everyone loves but no one plays
>make a dumbed down version with Blazblue that ultimately sells much better than your series ever did
>release Persona Arena and that also shits all over your baby in sales
>use whatever money from Persona to fund XRD and do enough to make it more accessible yet still have a high skill ceiling
>everyone praises it but again no one plays it
>release one of the worst fighting games in recent memory but with a DBZ IP and marvel veneer and watch it again crush the sales of your beloved IP that you put so much time and effort into
>decide to dumb down your game even more because people on Yas Forums and the internet posting waifus don't actually play the game or pay your bills

tell me what they did wrong and what they were supposed to do?

I played like 30-35 matches and I enjoyed it.
Lobby is shitty though

bump

>release one of the worst fighting games in recent memory but with a DBZ IP
Stopped reading right there. Your opinions are garbage and you’re part kf the problem.

>make a dumbed down version with Blazblue that ultimately sells much better than your series ever did
Ironically over the years BlazBlue became faster and more complex than Guilty Gear.

DBFZ is terrible though and one of the most repetitive drawn out fighters ever. It just looks good

Yeah I know CF got a lot harder and it's harder than XRD idk if it's harder than the older GG though.

The GG fanbose would probably prefer that GG just continue to financially fail while ASW funds it from games like DBFZ and GBVS. But that's just not how business works. It's unfortunate fighting games have had a rough time finding their footing these days. I'm still of the opinion that making them more casual does nothing to improve sales or online population. Fighting games need to go back to trying to make the rest of the game fun. MK11 does this and is one of the best selling games in the franchise. While SFV didn't have a story mode till 6 months in, and it was short and garbage, and didn't even have a standard arcade mode till AE rerelease which was what 1.5 years in? Tekken 7 sold bowling as DLC, no tekken force, character stories aren't great. SCVI has a terrible story mode. DoA6 has an awful story mode and is missing tag battle. Xrd's story mode doesn't even include gameplay for god's sake. I think they need to focus their efforts there first. Make that $60 feel well spent, give players a lot of fun things to do outside just straight versus. Then maybe you'll get some guys to start taking it more seriously and jump online. These games all focus too much on getting everyone to just sit in ranked grinding all day.

Killer Instinct had that Gargos Invasion mode and I wish more games did that. Have to fight a huge superboss with your team while also expanding on the lore

I would rather the series just die than continue to go in the direction it has been since Xrd

Why must I continue to watch all of my favorite series be paraded around as husks of their former selves?

Exactly, modes like that should become standard once again. They're really fun, and help people get attached to the characters and world.

I'm starting to think maybe a f2p fighter is the best choice? Why do fighters have to fill their games with shitty filler modes to draw in casuals and hope that they eventually make their way to comp, which we all know won't happen.

Mobas, FPS like CS GO, Siege, Quake, etc, BRs don't have to implement all those shitty filler modes in an attempt to draw in casuals. Well actually maybe Arena FPS might have to at this point.

A bit of this Story mode for every character should teach you how to play use some basic combos and game mechanics so that you can continue improve and want to learn the rest.

Because you grew up in the very infancy of video games, before they were a massive industry like this. Now there's big money involved and everyone wants a piece of it. Really no different than movies, tv, and comics. Video games just aren't quite mature enough yet to have big budgets while also being passionately crafted. Like you see from movies from time to time. We'll get there, but right now is kinda the dark ages if you like niche stuff. Hell, I loved RTS and arena shooters and they're just a completely dead genre. At least fighting games are holding onto life as hard as they can.

Ok Yas Forums say this game was an aborted and lobotomized fetus of a game that even people who shun sekiro for having no ez mode wouldn't even touch, and say it actually was complex. Would it do well then. I always wondered if the anime watching fags that love shounen now would vibe with GG's aesthetic

everyone who thinks GG is good because it's "hard" are shit at fighting games and use playing a "hard" game as their way of gaining status instead of just winning and being good in whatever game they do play. it looks good, looks way more neutral focused than old GG, I will definitely pick it up. thousands of hours memorising setplay just is not fun.

wasn't*

Honestly, all I want is a re-release of GGACR with 1-2 more updated characters, like Robo-Ky II and Leopaldon, and an online mode. XRD was too dumbed down as is and Rev 2, while a blast, never felt as fun to play.

>Mobas,
Team game
>FPS like CS GO,
Team game
>Siege,
Team game
>Quake
Is champions even still alive?

Also I loved tekken force, DoA Tag Mode and SC2 and 3's story modes. I think the issue is the idea that these are "filler" modes and the only "real" mode is ranked. People have to enjoy your game before they decide to start taking it seriously. And I think a F2P fighting game model like Killer Instinct or DoA5/6 would work fine. But I don't think fighting games benefit from being devoid of any content but ranked and casual online matches like BRs and MOBAs. And I think the numbers mostly support this.

So is this a proper Guilty Gear thread or nah?

I would have preferred Rev3 over the mess that is strive. It's just not fun and the gameplay doesn't even feel like Guilty Gear. It's as if Arcsys was making a new IP and last minute decided to pull a GG skin over it.

To be honest OP, I don't fucking know.
I personally don't care about simplification sometimes.
What pisses me off most about Strive, and I didn't know about it until today, is the FUCKING AIRDASH.
Why in the FUCK does it take so god damn long to start up. What the hell is even the fucking point of the airdash now?

Champions is on the verge of dying yeah and is about to be replaced by some eggbots AFPS game.

Idk, I never did the single player modes in fighters, I just feel like fighters are held to this standard where they have to have other modes other than comp but other games don't. Like no one gives a shit about League or Dota 2 not having a story mode. The league fighter if it releases soon enough looks like it's gonna take the throne desu with the way fighters are looking atm. Unless it releases around the time of SF6 and that game is universally loved and does a lot of things right.

sure

How many more suffixes can they stick on the fucking name?

gib him back, Daisuke

you know he's going to be jacked this time right? Everyone here has a ronnie coleman physique.

Or he'll just be thicc like May.

Casuals are where the sales are. Regardless of the game or genre the competive/hardcore portion of the fan base is very small. That's why fighting games have to have good single player content and presentation to appeal to what is the majority of its customers. A fact which is confirmed by recent failures (SFV launch, KoF14, MvCI) and successes (MK11, DBFZ, Tekken 7)

The story mode needs to be structured to actually teach you the gameplay without making it too obvious that it's a pseudo-tutorial, and then multiplayer needs feel like a natural progression.

jiver here, prepare to get anti-aired nerd

Strive will be fine you absolute spergs.

Because there's not a huge population of people who want to spend $60 to do nothing but 1v1 online despite liking the gameplay. And story is the content that most people do, just look at the population drop for every fighting game after the first bit.

>The league fighter if it releases soon enough looks like it's gonna take the throne desu with the way fighters are looking atm.
I have no clue why people are already shilling this so damn hard. I get why the streamers are I guess. Just really funny to me that people are excited for riot to take over this genre and fully turn it into full e-sports.

Attached: file.png (850x702, 264.77K)

this been the trend of fighting games. just dumb them down. sfv, mk11, gg etc.

it's been esports for a while. as soon as just a few people started making money from it and fed everyone else with "muh community" bullshit it became esports. now it's just a matter of who gets how big a slice of the pie.

Will she return?

Well yeah, if you try to use that waste of time air dash, of fucking course.
>Just really funny to me that people are excited for riot to take over this genre and fully turn it into full e-sports.
This thought makes me want to die.
I only want to play that game cause I played league a fuck load back in the day and like the characters.
I honestly, genuinely hate the thought of Riot having any influence in the fighting game industry / community at all.

They could make fighters 40 bucks like OW or f2p (like that riot game, KI etc), The only good thing about the league fighter if it blows up is the potential if it being "good" or at least having way better presentation than other fighters which will force other devs to be held to a standard with shit like netcode, tutorials etc, I don't expect the actual game to be worth much though nor am I looking forward to seeing how Riot affects the fgc.

Sadly, probably none of the valentines will. Breaks my heart. All 3 of them were perfect in their own way.

She's part of the Sol harem. Of course she will.

Dead game.

Yeah this would be nice as well in general just more stuff to do that felt relevant. Xrd style tutorials were already a big step forward.

Attached: file.png (850x749, 421.86K)

So when will we start seeing games become autistic again? Were the dark ages actually lowkey the best with games like Third Strike and AC

did anyone else feel like special windows were tighter?

I'll try it again tomorrow but the damage has to be toned down and I'm not a fan of the new lobby system separating everyone and migrating them automatically
there's a chance there's regular rooms in the same arcade format though, just under construction

>WE'VE GOT ONLY ONE SKY, BLUE RED AND BLACK PARANOIA
>WHAT IS IT LIKE TO YOU? NO ONE CAN SEE THE COLORS BUT YOU

Attached: 1582180562030.jpg (412x627, 54.35K)

Yeah league isn't exactly a good example of tutorials or presentation. And the problem with making fighters cheaper is that they are already anemic as fuck these days with shoestring budgets.

>Game decides that you've done enough damage so it ends your combo and sends you right back to neutral by force.
That's all I'm seeing here
