Literally every Yakuza game has a twist like this

Just finished it last week. Combat felt janky at first, but became really satisfying the more I played. Loved the tone shifts and the story is pretty fun if you just turn off your brain and roll with it. Overall was better than expected.

You're not going to make it. 0's twists are so minor in comparison to the rest of the series and calling several of them twists is a major stretch. I can only recall maybe five twists in total and I'd argue at least two of them are so minor they're not even twists. Makoto being Tachibana's sister, Oda being the one to have sold Makoto as a sex slave and inadvertently caused her stress-induced blindness, the reveal that Tachibana had the bat tattoo, Makoto betraying Majima, and the whole Shimano thing with Majima are all that come to mind with 4 and 5 being way more minor than the first three. The third one is especially hard-hitting but for the overall story it's basically nothing.

By comparison 6 and especially 4 are complete rollercoasters of twists to the point that you get whiplash from how many twists 4 reveals to you in like a two hour timeframe, 5 has a bunch of twists all over the place, and Judgment continues pulling the rug from beneath you to reveal yet another thing. Kenzan also has like three or four major twists, Ishin is nonstop twists with Ryoma constantly getting allegiances flipped on him at the drop of a hat on top of the whole Takechi being the fake Sakamoto Ryoma thing, and from what I could understand of Black Panther 2 the things that the best antagonist _Ryo_ does are completely batshit insane to the point that he literally knows the future because he has the power of precognition. The man even guesses what Tatsuya is thinking multiple times during the story and makes random games of chance work in his favor 100% of the time.

Because we've tried them numerous times and not only do they not survive, the last time we tried it only got to like 400 or 500 posts (The most it's ever gotten from the tries) with about 20 posters total actually talking about anything period. Most of the time it was just a bump from page 10 and it only survived like one or two weeks? Hell, they're barely surviving here nowadays, you're lucky if it tops 100 or 200 posts when the thread isn't the pasta dumps like a Groundhog Day scenario.

Well i only played 0 since i don't have a playstation and im too autistic to watch lets play on youtube, but it was a good amount compared to other games.
Also what do you think of majima backstory?, i really loved his character and saddens me to know he was batshit crazy before the prequel.

I'm probably going to play it tomorrow on Xbox cause of the pass because Yas Forums keeps saying its good. Probably won't give a fuck about it and get bored but I have nothing better to do.

Oh I understood that, it's why I joked about the whole "not gonna make it" thing. Just know that the series like doing twists, a lot of them. It's really fun to see how off the rails they can go, I personally started laughing near the end of 4 because of how quickly they jumped from one twist to the next it was incredible. I'd never seen anything like it.

It's basically just an expanded backstory of what we got from 4, but the Makoto stuff doesn't mesh well with 5's Majima stuff. At the same time I thought the Makoto stuff was nice overall and liked seeing her on top of her being a very interesting drive for Majima's sections. I also think they didn't handle the whole transition as smoothly as they could have even though you can understand how it happened, but the Majima in 1 felt much more unhinged than what we saw at the end of 0. Majima not meeting Kiryu at any point until the end also felt like such an odd choice considering it's such an important thing but they don't really show it.
