include what?

Those

Yeah I mean it's gay but if you just take the time to adapt it will become much easier.

>design barely parallels doomguy
>moveset barely parallels doomguy besides the movement and the shotgun
>only talks in one cutscene and doesn't have new lines for each encounter nor does he taunt you
>doesn't even look as cool as the main character, who is hyped up as the most "epic" character
they wanted to pull a vergil without understanding why he or even shadow the hedgework worked in the first place
and to think most people hated this warhammer reject because they couldn't play attention to feedback

Rails, obviously.

>Vergil
I’ll keep repeating it until it sticks, Hugo Martin desperately wants Doom to be DMC. We’re one iteration of this franchise away from Doomguy literally shouting “woooohoohoohoo, YEAH!”

>half-human who hunts the fuck out of demons
>sealed off arena fights
>slapstick-brutal melee shit
>emphasis on arcade-style play
>now an edgy rival character
>unlocking moves for your guns
>appealing to the audience’s inner 12-year-old-boy at every turn, fucking electric guitar axes and nunchucks and transforming machine guns

It works for Dante. I don’t think it works for Doomguy though

marauder is fucking based
git gud

the new doom's direction is that "you're the horror/power fantasy" because they took a bunch of memes and inside jokes from the fanbase and made it canon
doomguy was otherwise some tough guy in the worst day of his job that suddenly became a demon killer
then, after adding the pop culture perception of the series into the games, they added a new vision, which pulls up more liberties than something like doom 3
i wonder how most people would feel about the night sentinel if they belonged to a different series

He’s interesting mechanically but I don’t think he fits with the rest of the game. Like the idea of having to shotgun-parry is clever, but either do it or don’t do it. Don’t have one enemy that’s all about it and never use it anywhere else.

Is it the same person making this thread every day because they are stuck on them or do people really have that much difficulty?

just because he requires you to switch from ballista + chaingun spamming all enemies to death doesn't mean he doesn't fit with the rest of the game

he could work if he had levels built for him
gee, i wonder whether this philosophy comes from

I still don't know why sometimes you can 0 to death him with super shotgun/ballista and other times he just instantly recovers mid stagger and runs way

Me. If you don't like him you're just bad. Fuck off retard.

He works perfectly fine in the game as is. Anyone complaining about him is genuinely stupid. He's the best enemy in the game.

My only issue with doom eternal is that there are ZERO quake 1 tracks to find. Multiple quake 2, multiple quake 3, but nothing from NIN? Why? Did a publishing deal fall through between Reznor and ID?

It kind of does.

The weak point thing they committed to; there are a number of enemies who have it, it has multiple uses and triggers, it’s clever how it works. But the parry thing is only really used with him; no other enemy is built around timing your shots right, no other enemy is built around baiting its AI behaviors by being at a certain distance.

It’s clever, but it would have worked better if lots of enemies had a mechanic like this and Marauder was just The Parry Skill Check that made you do it really well. It feels like a pace break to have one enemy who expects you to do it really well and no other enemy where it’s even advantageous.

Because they clearly forgot their own design philosophy and wanted this game to just appeal to "fans" (mass-media) as much as possible.

They're literally just doing what Dark Souls 2 did— constant egging on that "hurrr our gaem is haaaard! lol look at us!" Yet they don't really understand anymore what made Doom 2016 such a good game in terms of pacing. I think the addition of an enemy like this just breaks the flow of the game. And people have jumped down my ass saying "WELL IT'S A MINI-BOSS." But... a Mini-boss in a game like this shouldn't just bore me to death. Strafe a little bit, wait for a window, push a button. Maybe pop of rockets or grenades to catch them off guard. It's literally just boring. Then again I don't like the super-hard emphasis on enemy weakpoints either. I think it actually dumbed down the game.

Haven't even played the game, but I've watched a little bit of Ultra Nightmare speedruns and he still looks annoying as shit.

>doesn't fit with the game
I fucking hate how people keep spouting this
If you aren't fucking retarded you maintain the same flow of combat while fighting the marauder, he is just hyper aggressive and punishes bad timing so people feel like they can't play normally when he ambushes you
In reality you just have to dodge more and control the fight, just like you do with literally every other heavy/super heavy

Not enough of them imo, I want to fight 5 of them at the same time.

They are pretty fun in a 1 on 1 fight though.

Haven't played Eternal but I always see people complaining about them. Are they THAT hard?

The game keeps a rhythm to the game play in terms of killing. That creature completely disrupts the rhythm so much that it makes you feel like you're playing a different game just to deal with him. The different game just really isn't that much fun, just something you deal with to get back to the rhythm.

> by being at a certain distance.
THIS ISN'T A FUCKING THING
HOW DO PEOPLE NOT FUCKING KNOW THIS BY NOW
>be at a distance that's literally not touching him
>literally ANYRANGE BEYOND YOUR OWN SS RANGE
>does axe throw
>charges into melee
There is no fucking "sweet spot"
He only shoots you if you touch him
He only sends out the dog if you shoot his shield enough

filtered

quake 1 doesn't even have its own tracks on the steam version because trent is a bitch

Fucking this. I want to juggle these fucks.

Theyre not once you get used to them. Just not fun to fight against. No matter what anyone says.

>sticky bombs and rocket detonations
He's fucking easy just use your brain user.

Dreadknights should have had a dash attack with a green eye flash to teach you shotgun parrying earlier.

I understand what you mean but I entirely disagree. Just because every enemy doesn't have the same gimmick doesn't ruin the pacing or any one of these other buzzwords that people use when talking shit about Marauder. It just forces you to switch up your playstyle but people are too used to "chaingun go brrrrrrrrr" that when they are forced to mix things up they fail
>Haven't even played the game
opinion discarded

I find them insanely fun

learn to combo shotgun > ballista, retard
it's so easy

no, eternal on nightmare is easier than 2016 on nightmare

SSG and BOW and SSG and BOW

Are you STILL getting filtered by the marauder?
After the game has been broken to a point you can finish it in it's entirety in 27 minutes? Just end it, it won't get any better. Just end your life.

this

IMO, it would have been better if it was just guy who pursues Doom Guy throughout the game and each encounter is treated as more of a boss battle with different approaches, as opposed to a mini-boss with a set pattern.

>eternal nightmare is easier than 2016 nightmare
Fuuuuck no
>t. Someone who has done multiple ultra nightmare runs on both
2016 is a fucking cakewalk with how much you can cheese

Some people also enjoy cock and ball torture

>immediately after every single enemy and boss is introduced a message pops up telling you exactly how to beat them
this is not good design

imagine not
