Final Fantasy

XV's combat was genuinely satisfying once you got gud, especially the dodging and combos, FF7R's stays the same spongy whack-a-mole shit regardless of how long you've played. Early press stuff from the CC2 version of the remake outright said it was an action game and I'm guessing what we ended up with was the compromise after that news wasn't received well, but it just ends up feeling like an amalgamation of styles to remind you of the original than something with its own individual style.

user you are so fucking right

why don't you post more often?

Why don't you post with unique webms showing off all the good combat you are talking about?

I'm going to download XV right now.
I'm going to download it and try it out for the second time, and see how far I can go before becoming sick to the back teeth with the game. Last time, I only got up to meeting Ardyn and something to do with a boat. I was bored out of my fucking mind.
I do this so I can either change my mind or formulate proper rants on why this game is a fucking dumpster fire.

At least let it be Royal Edition tho

That's what I tried last time. Seemed like all it really did beyond include DLCs was splice video clips from the film between cutscenes to fill in gaps that make people wonder where all the story went.
Is there a remedy for the combat amounting to holding down the attack button that I missed?

Based. XVchads just keep winning.

Yeah, turn up the difficulty.

Several accessories that make auto-dodge, auto-phoenix and auto-win much less cumbersome to do manually

Barry once said completely turning off the UI would help, maybe I'll do that

Oh you're a Barry retard, nevermind. I was actually gonna help you.

huh they even downgraded that animation

No royal edition has new 5 new bosses with omega, cerberus, the Fierce, the Rogue, the Mystic, new cutscenes, new and expanded areas of Insomnia and new sidequests there and new enemies too, new lore added about the lucis family, armiger unleashed, royal boat stuff for more fishing and recipehs etc. And armiger unleashed is combo based with strict timing required for combo extensions.

The "remedy" is to learn how to play. Pretty much every button does something in combat and holding isn't even optimal when it comes to circle. Regular swords, lances, greatswords etc all have manual finishers on them only through tapping.

No you weren't. I'm actually going to play it, you're just being silly.
I don't see any point in being bitter about a game unless I've actually played it and feel it wasted my time, so I want to see why people defend it so hard.

Did they add a hard more? Dropped this game bed cause normal was piss easy no matter what you did.

They added Nixperience Band so you can stay at level 1 for increased challenge like in kh and souls etc.

I'll take your word for it, bud. But if it's one of those "it gets sick in 50 hours bro i swear" deals, I won't be impressed.

I legit dropped the game when the timeskip happened. Never before has a game disappointed me to this extent. 60 hours and felt like I accomplished nothing

XV chads win again.

I'll list the inputs here

>O = Attack button, tap for manual finishers
>Triangle = Warp
>Square = Guard button,, dodge roll, tech roll
>X = Jump button
>Up-Dpad = Weapon switch slot 1
>Right-Dpad = Weapon switch slot 2
>Down-Dpad = Weapon switch slot 3
>Left-Dpad = Weapon switch slot 4
>L-stick + O= Combo modifiers (various directions)
>X+O = Aerial combo
>X+L-stick +O= Aerial Combo modifiers (various directions)
>R1+Triangle = Warp Strike
>L1 = Party command menu
>R1 = Lock-on
>R2 = Battle menu
>Armiger=R1+L1
>Character switch=L1+L2+Dpad
>Magic = Equip on slots and aim with L stick and cast with O
>R1+O for quick cast

This is for noctis, the other characters have some different inputs

Based retard

I haven't played this game but OP's looks better

I've been playing it for the first time and have liked it so far. I think I just got to chapter 5. But the narrative is beyond fucked.

It definitely feels like there are huge portions of the game missing. Almost like there was supposed to be a whole 10-12 hour section at the start where you'd play as young/teenage noctis that they show you in the flashbacks with Luna. Where you'd meet and see relationships develop all these characters and Insomnia in general that the game just introduces with absolutely no context.

The entire sequence of Insomnia getting fucked off screen to "well we gotta go meet this guy in this tomb" to "sure let's just follow this weird dude to the base of this meteor because noctis has headaches we've talked about for about 6 seconds" is kind of comical in how haphazardly slapped together it is.

It's like they made all the assets, systems, and some cool set pieces and then spent 10 minutes gluing it together to call it done.

A huge "what could have been" game.

I tried that last time. Sure you can stay at level 1 but they implemented it in the most retarded way possible. It stops you from leveling but not from accumulating exp. So unless you specifically want to do a level 1 run its kinda of useless. The problem is if you do even a modest amount of sidequest you become laughably over-leveled and the game quickly becomes a joke. That's not even to mention the fact that you cannot die. You should have been able to use this to stay within the recommend level for the story quests. Same retarded implementation on the ring that stops spell friendly fire. Stops damage but allies stick get shocked, set on fire, ect. Its legitmately like the devs are deliberately trying to make the game shit.

FF15 FUCKING WON

I still preferred XV to XIII. And Ignis was a badass.

XV succeeded in interesting me as someone who has ignored Final Fantasy shit for the past 30 years. Now all they have to do is collaborate with Platinum to have a good combat system in XVI and I'm in.

HOLY SHIT HE WENT SUPER SAYAIN AND YOU CAN PRESS ONE BUTTON TO WIN

Just listing the control scheme doesn't tell anyone very much about the combat. For example, DMC and even Nioh both have relatively simple controls but the combat is a lot deeper than 15's even at a glance.

>Hold square: The game
Most satisfying refund of my life. It's true FF7 bosses are sponges but at least i can do plenty of shit and I don't have to craft spells.

>Mash Square: the game.

Nah dog. FFXV combat is a fucking snoozefest. The first time I played I managed to sit through maybe two hours before shutting the game off.

No it wasn't. FFXV had terrible combat.

>Mash square
>Manage tifa's resources
>Make sure aerith arcane ward is placed and she remains inside it and take other characters into it.
>Buff and dispel
>Fill atb gauge and use other abilities
>Summon.
I had like 10 hours in FFXV and i was still only holding fucking square.
